We are looking for a Commodity Buyer to join our Procurement team!
As part of our global Aluminium Commodity team—made up of 6 buyers managing projects worldwide!!—you will play a key role within the Metallic domain, supporting all Aluminium activities linked to Rolling Stock projects.

In this role, you will:

  • Understand the strategic stakes of the Aluminium Commodity
  • Manage activities from Tender phase through to First Delivery
  • Contribute to the deployment of the Aluminium Purchasing Strategy
  • Participate in contractual and commercial negotiations with key suppliers
  • Ensure flawless project execution aligned with QCDT objectives and DFQ milestones

You will report directly to the Aluminium Commodity Manager.

 

The main missions are : 

Technical: 

  • Consolidate and analyze commodity needs and inputs from sites and projects
  • Actively contribute to the elaboration of the Aluminium Commodity strategy and supplier panel
  • Represent the Aluminium Commodity within projects, platforms, and solution teams
  • Apply the Alstom Transport Sourcing Process, ensuring compliance and proper documentation
  • Monitor supplier performance (QCD), manage initial issues, and support continuous improvement
  • Ensure alignment with QCDT targets and DFQ milestones across all sourcing activities
  • Provide accurate return‑of‑experience (REX) to strengthen future tenders and sourcing decisions
  • Prepare and manage RFQs using standard tools, ensuring technical requirements

 

Commercial Responsabilities :

  • Support the global supplier panel and manage specific suppliers within the Aluminium scope
  • Lead negotiations during bidding and project phases
  • Manage contractual and commercial discussions, including specific agreements when needed
  • Contribute to building differentiation and competitive advantage through supplier strategy
  • Monitor legal and commercial project evolution (FAI, Business Award, product development)
  • Prepare Business Award documentation and lead sourcing work package commitments
  • Ensure day‑to‑day follow‑up of suppliers to secure performance and mitigate commercial risks
  • Track Aluminium Prices and Prepare Negotiation accordingly

 

Cross-Functional Responsabilities:

  • Work closely with the global Aluminium team of 6 buyers, ensuring collaboration across worldwide projects
  • Collaborate with all internal stakeholders (Engineering, Quality, Project, Industrial, etc.) to secure successful project execution
  • Support the Commodity Manager during tender phases and provide decision‑making inputs
  • Lead cross‑functional problem‑solving with internal customers and escalate issues when required
  • Ensure compliance with Alstom’s Transport Code of Ethics and all Procurement guidelines
  • Coordinate project activities across all métiers to ensure alignment and on‑time delivery

 

Profile:

Education Level / Technical Skills: Engineering or a specialized Master's degree in Procurement, with prior industry experience (minimum 2 years), would be strong assets Behavioral Competencies:

  • Fluent English and Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with international teams and suppliers
  • Ability to operate in a worldwide, multicultural environment
  • Global perspective and openness to international challenges
  • Good communication skills 

 

Hard Skills : 

  • Proficiency in SAP and Ariba for procurement, PO management, sourcing events, and supplier data maintenance
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis, cost models)
  • Experience with RFQ preparation and sourcing tools
  • Understanding of industrial processes related to metals or raw materials (Aluminium is a plus)
  • Contractual and legal basics for negotiation and Business Award preparation
  • Knowledge of QCDT / DFQ methodologies and procurement processes
