Could you be the part-time Train Captain in Oslo we’re looking for?

Your Role, Your Impact 

As the operational focal point on board the train, you will bring structure, sound judgement and clear direction to complex test activities. Your five core responsibilities will be to: 

  • Act as the certified Train Captain and represent the Train Validation Engineer (TVE) on board during validation, certification, test and commissioning activities. 

  • Prepare test implementation by confirming staffing, tools, on-board spare parts and train configuration, then coordinate all on-board contributors and give clear instructions to the driver. 

  • Enforce the Quality Management Plan (QMP), Level 1 inspections and applicable safety protocols for trains and train riders throughout dynamic testing. 

  • Oversee dynamic test execution and train movements, maintaining the test book and producing dynamic commissioning assessments and failure reports for the Tests Manager. 

  • Support troubleshooting and related Rolling Stock site tests, while sharing practical knowledge that strengthens team capability and a consistent safety culture. 

You will work with committed, cross-functional teams to solve operational challenges and help Alstom products progress safely and efficiently through the Product Introduction period. 

What You Bring

  • General knowledge of railway operations and an understanding of the safety stakes associated with dynamic testing. 

  • A structured, organised approach to planning, execution, documentation and follow-up. 

  • Strong coordination skills, with the confidence to make timely operational decisions and give clear instructions. 

  • The ability to work effectively across test, commissioning, engineering, operations and site teams. 

  • Fluency in Norwegian and English. 

How Success Is Measured 

  • Test activities are prepared and executed safely, with the required people, tools, spares and train configuration in place. 

  • On-board roles, instructions and train movements are coordinated clearly and effectively. 

  • QMP requirements, Level 1 inspections and safety protocols are consistently applied. 

  • Test books, commissioning assessments and failure reports are accurate, timely and useful for decision-making. 

  • Troubleshooting support and knowledge sharing improve team readiness and test execution.
