Your future role

 

Take on a new challenge and apply your mechanical domain expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to the Carbody & Structures Domain Leader, Derby and work alongside the carbody designers, structural engineers, mechanical architecture, integration, systems, production and procurement teammates. You'll manage the Carbody & Structures worksteams on a major development project. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business to ensure Quality, Cost and Delivery of engineering scope with collaborative working and by supporting the team in the resolution of issues.

You’ll specifically take care of the design of the carbody design and the structural calculations on a state of the art train development project.

 

We’ll look to you for:

  • Create and carry out an engineering work plan including interactions with Production, Procurement & Supplier Quality teams.
  • Lead meetings for Carbody scope including production, procurement & supplier quality where required
  • Defining the carbody design, structural calculations & crashworthiness calculations for the complete vehicle.
  • Managing requirements from source/standards/customer to proof of conformance and validation tests
  • Day to day management of engineering activities on the project.
  • Ensuring proper collaborative work with other Teams/Functions.
  • Ensuring that design reviews are prepared and documented as per the project/program schedule and to follow-up the main open actions.
  • Supporting the team in the resolution of issues and challenging actions (multi-domains) in particular those involving other stakeholders (internal or external).
  • Reviewing technical deliverables generated by the Carbody team and other relevant teams.
  • Provide scope development status and clarifications to Sub System Manager using standard project KPIs
  • Ensuring the Quality, Cost and Delivery of engineering scope.
  • Collaborating with the Central Engineering team for continuous improvement of the product.

  • High level of experience in Mechanical Engineering applied to Railway products (or Automotive domain or Aerospace domain)
  • Experience in Carbody design / structural calculations 
  • Proficiency in technical communication and documentation
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams
  • Attention to detail and ability to ensure compliance with internal rules of data structuration
  • A continuous learning mindset to stay updated on industry advancements
  • A good level of experience of direct engineering team management
  • Experience of Planning on complex development projects
  • Good Communications and interpersonal skills
  • Structured and organised
  • English operational in reading/writing and technical meetings
