DEVELOPMENT CENTER IN CHARLEROI – Where Software Engineering meets Mobility Solutions
Alstom Development Center located in Charleroi, gathers all the R&D activities that aim to develop Alstom’s Signalling solutions, mainly ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) solutions.
Alstom Charleroi DC teams (about 200 experts - System Engineers, Embedded Software experts, Verification & Validation Engineers,…) are driving innovative development programs with the ambition to keep and improve Alstom’s world-leading position on today and tomorrow digital mobility solutions for which Software Engineering is clearly one of the core competencies (Train control systems, Signalling Systems, Automatic Operation,…).
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
By joining a multidisciplinary, multicultural and international team, your role as Software Leader will be to lead and organize activities and teams dedicated to :
- Take part to the development of software specifications and architectures based on the needs expressed by rail experts.
- Develop and maintain software components (detailed designs, coding and tests)
- Perform integration and functional tests of these components in the final products via physical and digital test platforms
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes, methods and working tools
- Take an interest in technological developments in the field and in the profession
You will have to lead and support colleagues in charge of the following activities respecting processes and standards:
- Critical review of input specifications
- Active participation in team dynamics (stand-up meeting, code review, pair programming)
- Design and implementation of reusable modules
- Use of existing or newly created modules
- Software versioning
- Production, testing and documentation of executable components
Qualifications & Skills:
Education – Master or Engineering Degree (BAC +5) in Electronics, Computer Science, Telecom, Automation, Electricity, Robotics, Mecatronics or in another similar technical specialty is mandatory
Experience
- In embedded software programming is mandatory
- Strong Background in Test & Integration activities in safety systems (e.g. aeronautics, railway,…)
- Experience in functional team leading, in managing work packages and/or sub-contractors
- Knowledge of railways signaling systems, automotive, spatial, avionics are an asset.
Methodologies & tools
- Programming languages: C, C++, Ada
- Versioning tool: Git, SVN, (Clearcase)
- IDE : GPS/GNAT for Ada, VisualStudio for C/C++
- Development methodologies: V Cycle, Agile is an asset
- Continous integration : Jenkins, GitLab
Language
- Good oral and written communication skills in French and English.
