Your Future Role
140 years of Swiss railway history meet modern solutions for green mobility in Zurich. With 300 colleagues, our Zurich site servs as a global competence center for high-performance traction technology and a development hub for locomotives, bogies, mechanical and electrical systems, as well as services for the local and global markets. Our corporate functions play a key role in supporting and continuously improving the performance of our sites. You’ll report to Matthias Zeh and work alongside a dedicated and enthusiastic team.
On this role you will perform control engineering activities for one or several functions from architecture to detailed specification, interface and Pure Principle Scheme or Logical Diagram.
We’ll look for you to :
- Follow Best Practices: Implement development practices and rules as outlined in the Train Control support plans.
- Design Solutions: Create low voltage and software control design solutions that meet customer specifications.
- Deliver Engineering Outputs: Provide all necessary engineering outputs, including Functional Design Descriptions (FDD) with user interfaces, electrical schemes, and product definitions, with support from the Electrical Lead Engineer, ensuring quality, cost, and timeline commitments are met.
- Interface Control: Prepare Interface Control Documents (ICD) for subsystems involved in your function.
- Manage Change Requests: Handle Change Requests related to your function.
- Standardize and Optimize: Ensure standardization and maximize the use of reference functions from previous projects.
- Support Testing: Assist with supplier interface tests or verification tests on PC or TCMS Test Benches.
- Integration Support: Provide support during train integration when needed.
- Validation Support: Assist with train validation as required.
- Share Knowledge: Contribute to the return of experiences in your domain (software, schematics, apparatus).
All About You
We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field
- experience as a functional engineer in rolling stock.
- Proficient in electrical and schematic design activities.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in electrical, electro-mechanical, or automation engineering (Programmable Logic Controller).
- Hands-on experience in design and development using IEC61131-3 software or model-based development tools like Matlab/Simulink, Control Build, etc.
- Knowledge of network topologies and interfaces for Serial, Ethernet, MVB, and other industrial communication networks.
- Strong communication skills.
- Fluent in English, with basic to intermediate German skills (willing to learn).
