Could you be the full-time Mechancial Designer in Wolverhampton we’re looking for?

 

Your future role 

 

Take on a new challenge and apply your testing expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to David Sanders (Design Office Manager - Mechanical), and  work alongside other members of the Services Central Engineering team. The role will be to manage production of Mechanical designs to support the project team

We’ll look to you for: 

Being responsible for the mechanical engineering related to the integration of equipment on trains, including:

  • All areas of Railway vehicle design associated with refurbishment and re-engineering including design of mechanical installations, production of mechanical drawings and the integration of mechanical equipment into existing systems.

  • Prime Objectives: production of design drawings to include Installation, Assembly and detail drawings to customer requirements, produce Field Modification Instructions and the Request for Test instruction documentation and bill of materials.

  • Production of Assembly and Detail drawings and integration of systems to a high quality standard and following company standards and procedures

  • Produce mechanical 2D drawings and 3D models to a high quality standard and following company standards and procedures

  • Investigate and supply solutions to major technical problems

  • Attend concept, intermediate and final design reviews.

  • Supervision of engineering design staff and sub-contractors

  • Respond to technical queries from site (including guidance and support of the production team)

  • Liaise with manufacturing suppliers and customers.

  • Produce technical documentation for use by production teams.

  • Produce test specifications.

  • Previous mechanical/electrical vehicle engineering experience, preferably with a rail background.

  • Can demonstrate key behaviours/competencies in: assertiveness, logical thinking, leadership and leading a team

  • Excellent communication, supervision, planning and investigative skills

  • Sound knowledge in Rolling stock Design, CAD operator experience in 2D/3D Microstation and 2D/3D Catia V5 using Dassault Systemes Enovia VPM.

  • Flexibility to attend site for a period of time.

  • HNC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
