Could you be the full-time onsite General Manager Rail Operations in New Haven, CT we’re looking for?


Your future role

"Take on a new challenge and apply your multifaceted and strategic leadership expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated, innovative, and resilient teammates. You'll be at the helm of ensuring top-notch rail service operations, making critical decisions that directly impact the efficiency and safety of our services. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (including safety, operations, and customer service), spearhead contract management, and much more."

We’ll look to you for:

  • Serves as Contractor’s liaison with the Authority primarily its Contract Manager,

  • Direct reports management, who in‐turn oversee management, technical, administrative, and exempt staff,

  • Performance of all Key Management Personnel, as well as subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors,

  • Oversee Safety, Contract Administration, Daily Train Operations, Facilities, Workforce Training, and Maintenance, Information Technology Systems, on‐call Work Directives and Customer Experience,

  • Establish meaningful key performance metrics, monitor and make decisions based on facts and trends,

  • Develop and establish programs, practices, standards and procedures for passenger safety, rule adherence, operating schedules, and training,

  • Weekly (or sometimes daily) service performance review meeting with Authority staff,

  • Proven Management Experience and Skills managing subcontract, supplier, vendor contracts

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation, Business Administration, Engineering, Construction, or related field—or equivalent experience.,

  • 10 years of broad and deep, progressively responsible experience covering most facets of railroad operations, maintenance, engineering, contract, and project management. At least eight years in a Senior Management/Leadership capacity for a FRA Regulated, Class 1 or Commuter Railroad with territory, service, complexity, and challenges.,

  • Knowledge of contract and project management within a railroad environment.,

  • Familiarity with labor relations and collective bargaining environments.,

  • Ability to make presentations to Senior Leadership, Governing Boards, and public stakeholder groups.,

  • Proven management and leadership skills with a focus on safety, efficiency, and customer service.,

  • Experience in managing operations and maintenance of complex Railroad Networks.,

  • Ability to organize work effectively with strong attention to detail.

Salary range- 150,000-181,500
