Could you be the full-time Fire Safety Manager (f/m/d) in Vienna we’re looking for? 

 

Your Future Role 

From Vienna to the world: our Viennese site is a global competence center for trams and light rail vehicles. 800 colleagues develop and manufacture the Flexity™ tram for worldwide customers from Austria to Australia. Our product line Rolling Stock & Components offers products from the broadest portfolio in the rail industry. Our innovation focus is on green and smart solutions, including emission-free propulsion systems such as batteries and hydrogen. You’ll report to Train Design Engineer and work alongside a dedicated and enthusiastic team.  

 

We’ll look for you to :  

  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Ecodesign (e.g. ISO 22628) and Fire Safety standards (e.g. EN 45545, EN 50553), as well as customer and legal requirements

  • Collect and review supplier deliverables and certificates (including UNIFE documentation)

  • Prepare reports, documentation and calculations in line with project deadlines

  • Manage and assess obsolescence cases within service contracts

  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Ecodesign and Fire Safety processes through active collaboration with Alstom’s global expert network

  • Create training materials to support qualification of engineers on site

Ecodesign Responsibilities

  • Review and take responsibility for reports (e.g. SCIP) to ensure regulatory compliance and vehicle authorization.

  • Monitor and implement changes in legislation and regulatory frameworks, including continuous updates to material and substance restrictions (e.g. REACH).

Fire Safety Responsibilities

  • Act as a central point of contact for external stakeholders — including Fire Safety assessors, laboratories, customers, and suppliers — to ensure smooth authorization processes

  • Support engineering teams during the development phase, to realize the Fire Safety concept and associated performance properties

  • Define, coordinate, and follow up on Fire Safety‑related tests, ensuring the validity and completeness of results

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Safety, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Materials, or similar)

  • Strong analytical mindset and ability to interpret technical requirements and standards

  • Fluent in English and German 

  • Proactive, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a regulated, documentation‑heavy environment

  • Organizational skills to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and compliance activities simultaneously

  • Curiosity, willingness to learn, and openness to continuous development in Fire Safety and railway engineering
