As an Electrical Technician, you will provide technical expertise in troubleshooting and repairing electrical/mechanical problems on locomotive and coach equipment. Provide coaching and guidance to other staff to heighten their abilities to repair equipment. A role model for timekeeping, and a team player, who demonstrates organizational commitment and awareness. Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions, as well as in a 24-hour, 7 days a week working environment and must work safely and follow all work procedures. Technical skills/knowledge

  • Familiarity with AC / DC power and control systems – (HVAC systems is an asset)
  • Capable of reading and understanding electrical drawings and maintenance manuals
  • Capable of using computers and computer control systems
  • Experience using DVM, Amp clamp-on meter, Meggar, oscilloscope, power tools and hand tools
  • Perform scheduled inspections and unscheduled repairs, including component replacements on coaches / Locos.
  • Complete interior and exterior inspections of the coach, including all subsystems and safety equipment.
  • Equipment Fault finding with corresponding repairs.
  • Record keeping
  • Proficient in English reading, writing and speaking skills required.
  • Traveling off-site to outpost locations for repairs, troubleshoot and repairing equipment.

 

Qualifications

  • Certificate or License in related field
  • Minimum of 1- year work experience in the Mechanical and Electrical maintenance field.
  • Must possess a valid Class G Driver’s license.
