Purpose of the Job
As a Supplier Quality Serial Engineer, you will apply and deploy the Serial Supplier Quality Assurance policy in collaboration with Procurement. You will be accountable for Non-Conformity Report (NCR) management and supplier performance for a defined scope of suppliers/projects after product validation (First Article Inspection + first three deliveries). You will also perform inspections of low-critical parts and, when appointed, lead Incoming Inspection activities for the site.
Main Responsibilities
Supplier Quality (Serial Performance) Management

Manage day-to-day non-conformities: ensure timely notification to supplier, replacement of defective parts and implementation of secure containment.

Lead treatment of NCRs by establishing action plans to meet NCR targets; invoice Cost of Non-Quality (CONQ S1) to suppliers.

Process supplier waiver requests for your assigned scope.

Organize supplier retrofits, initiate quality walls when required.

Secure timely and robust supplier containment action plans to protect manufacturing lines.

Challenge suppliers on corrective & preventive actions (CAPAs): check effectiveness, request evidence, conduct supplier site visits.

Maintain supplier improvement roadmaps for under-performing suppliers, following escalation process (Green / Yellow / Red status).

Prepare and monitor Top Issues dashboards and align with units to proactively manage issues.
Incoming Inspection Leader (when appointed)

Ensure compliance of purchased parts delivered to Alstom facilities. Manage a team of Incoming Inspectors to deliver consistent, accurate and timely inspections.

Collaborate with SQ Serial Engineers and incoming inspection team to ensure control plans are defined, registered in ERP system, sampling rules are clear and updated.

Define inspection instructions/checklists; manage records, tool calibration, NCR characterisation, ERP transactions.

Initiate special process inspections or external lab testing when required.

Trigger control plan modifications when NCRs detected in incoming or production.

Inform SQ Serial and Supply Chain of incoming defects and their impact on part availability.

Schedule daily meetings to define priorities and manage the team workload.

Maintain and publish KPIs; identify opportunities for performance improvement in the inspection process.

Manage team competencies via skills matrix and organise training as needed.
Location & Mobility
Based at the site and includes travel to supplier sites as required for the SQ Serial Engineer role.
Qualifications & Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in Quality or Engineering (or equivalent). A Master’s degree is a plus.

1–3 years’ experience in Quality or Production environment, preferably in supplier quality or manufacturing.

Knowledge of supplier qualification standards (ISO, ASME, IRIS, local standards).

Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems.

Familiarity with technical fields and supplier relationship management.

Strong skills in 8D methodology, collaborative mindset, persuasive and resilient.

Fluent in English.
