About the Role:

The Repair and Maintenance Coordinator is responsible to ensure that all maintenance and repair activities applicable to the V/Line Maintenance sites are planned and implemented to the highest standard, on time and within budget. Fundamental to the position is the engagement and supervision of sub-contractors performing services on all sites.


Key responsibilities

  • Effectively implement and administer the Alstom site maintenance procedures.
  • Liaise with depot maintenance personnel on matters relating to site maintenance and new plant.
  • Plan and manage the site maintenance activities for all sites.
  • For plant and equipment maintenance and purchasing of new equipment adhere to the appropriate plant OHS and quality standards.
  • Maintain the plant and equipment register.
  • Maintain service records for all plant and equipment.
  • Add all new plant and equipment on the maintenance register.
  • Complete and maintain external contractor documentation.
  • Ensure contractors and suppliers are site inducted and OHS compliant.
  • Where possible establish service agreements with preferred service providers.
  • Manage the CAPEX requests for site improvements and upgrades or as requested by V/Line.
  • Assist with the development of building improvements and manage to completion.
  • Conduct site maintenance audits of supplier’s workmanship to monitor performance.
  • Prepare annual plant maintenance reports for external publication.
  • Prepare monthly reports on plant and site maintenance performance and improvement program.
  • Raise recommendations from audits and observations to improve the quality of tools and equipment.
  • Assist with tooling requirements and ensure that equipment used for inspections, test and measuring is identified and registered on the calibration database.
  • Ensure the safe operation of plant and equipment.
  • Liaise with OHS, quality and training to provide plant and equipment training as required for safe operation.
  • Assist with the management of a strict repair and maintenance budget.
  • Manage contractor invoices and process in Maximo for payment.


Key Requirements:

  • Practical experience in a similar role in the rail industry or heavy engineering or willingness to undertake on the job training to suit.
  • Strong technical understanding and ability
  • Ability to plan and manage small projects
  • Experienced in auditing Quality Management systems or willingness to undertake formal training in quality management.
