Your future role

We have several opportunities available for Help Desk Technicians to join our team and play a critical role in the maintenance of the V/Line fleet. Based at the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) we share with V/Line at Bourke Street,  Melbourne you will participate in a shift roster to provide 24/7 technical support to the V/Line fleet controllers, drivers and conductors, to minimise the delay of a fault while the train is being prepared, in service or stabled.

 

We’ll look to you for:

  • Managing and assessing faults in accordance with the Code of Practice.
  • Following the fault-finding guides to ensure a consistent response and rectification process.
  • Liaising with the Day of Operations Planners to arrange train movements and transition to minimise the impact of the delay and to support V/Line with the continuity of service.
  • Accurately recording the delay associated with the fault.
  • Accurately recording the symptoms of the train faults in the maintenance management system (MMS) to inform the maintenance technicians of the issue and for the engineering teams to assess implementing containment actions.
  • Contributing to fault finding guides to standardise the fault rectification process.

  • Effective communication skills with the demonstrated ability to liaise with cross-functional teams.
  • The ability to prioritise, think quickly and make decisions under pressure.
  • Technical skills in fault finding, reading schematic diagrams, work to technical instructions and manuals.
  • IT savvy with demonstrated experience using Microsoft office products.
  • Sound knowledge of and experience in Rolling Stock maintenance.
  • An Engineering Degree and/or Trade Qualifications in Electrical or Mechanical.
