As an Automotive Assembler/Coach Builder, you will work to fit out trains and trams as Alstom's V/Line Maintenance project is responsible for managing the maintenance of the V/Line Rolling Stock Fleet. As a Mechanical Maintainer, you will be assisting to maintain V/Line's Classic Fleet of 1950s-1990s built locomotives, carriages, Sprinter DMUs and new VLocity DMUs. These trains are a key part of the V/Line Fleet, transporting passengers throughout regional Victoria.
 
This position is based at our West Melbourne Depot and supports the Alstom Maintenance team. You will;

 

  • Perform a range of tasks in order to test, repair, overhaul or modify various components in and around the body of the vehicles;
  • Perform and be responsible for general housekeeping and cleaning tasks;
  • Ensure that the fleet is running efficiently, safely, and that we are abiding by relevant industry standards;
  • Comply with OH&S legislative, company policy and procedure requirements;
  • Be a ‘self-starter’ and work independently and proactively with little supervision in a team environment;
  • Other requirements as directed by their immediate supervisor/manager.
  • Excellent roster: 5 on 5 off, 2 on 2 off

 

Qualifications

  • Successfully completed an apprenticeship as a vehicle artisan, e.g., Vehicle body builder, Car and Wagon Builder, Carpenter, Upholsterer, Painter, Shop-fitter or equivalent.
