Duration:12 Month Fixed term contract.


About the Role:


Provide high quality and accurate payroll service and support for the V/Line Maintenance Sites at West Melbourne, Ballarat, Geelong and South Dynon including full responsibility for end to end fortnightly payroll process.


Key responsibilities


Payroll Matters

  • Preparation and control of employee attendance and leave records on a weekly basis to ensure payroll data can be processed in a timely manner
  • Ensure the preparation and processing of fortnightly payroll for employees is processed within agreed timeframes and with a high level of accuracy
  • Ensure correct and accurate timesheet template completed for processing fortnightly payroll into outsourced payroll system
  • Set up and maintenance of employee records in the outsourced payroll system
  • Perform month and year end process including distribution of payment summaries, reconciliation of payroll
  • Answer queries relating to payroll matters
  • Preparation of ETP’s for relevant employees as required
  • Provide assistance on Award interpretation, National Employment Standards (NES), Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBA’s) and Fair Work Act (FWA) ensuring compliance
  • Identify new work practices to improve efficiency across the workflow within the payroll function for VLM



  • Provide assistance on rosters under the guidance and sign off of the Vehicle Superintendant
  • Create and update fortnightly rosters from master roster templates (220 staff)


Other Matters

  • Control and order Rail Pass leave passes as per the EBA


Key Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in Payroll Administration.
  • 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment as payroll administration
  • Good knowledge of SAP, Kronos and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Programs
