Job Title:  Verification and Validation Metier Manager

 

Job Location:  4545 East River Road, West Henrietta, NY  14586 and various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States

 

Job Type:  Full Time

Duties: Manage the engineering lifecycle activities for the Signaling V&V Team stationed at the Engineering site; ensure Alstom’s Signaling projects and programs are executed within Alstom’s established budget, meet scheduled deadlines, and achieve quality and safety targets; implement standardization of tools and best practices for his team; coach his team of engineers and continuously develop their technical and methodological skills; provide Return on Experience of industry best practices and tools in collaboration with Signaling and Engineering team leaders; ensure proper allocation of resources for projects and ensure that the optimal utilization ratio of resources is achieved by all engineers within his team; plan, monitor and control work-package execution, which involves scheduling, resource allocation, and communication of risks; guarantee Verification and Validation of signaling product design, specifications, interface control documents, and application logic across multiple programs; lead reviews with the Program and Project teams; and utilize engineering expertise to solve complex technical problems

Requirements: Employer will accept Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field; and four years of experience in the job offered or related engineering or engineering manager occupation. The four years of experience must include one year of experience with each of the following:

1.         The deployment of the V-cycle across projects and programs;

2.         Creating V&V documentation (plans, procedures, requirement traceability) for Signaling programs and projects;

3.         Using DOORs and Reqtify for requirement capture and traceability;

4.         Creating and using system models in SyML (System Modeling Language);

5.         Leading a team of engineers;

6.         Directly managing first level managers;

7.         Creating and maintaining schedules;

8.         Preparing department level workload analysis and planning based on project/program schedules;

9.         Performing and managing laboratory validation campaigns;

10.       Designing carborne systems and software for the rail signaling industry;

11.       Inspection and analysis of carborne system, hardware and software specification and design documents, checking for completeness, accuracy and traceability;

12.       Designing and utilizing industry tools for carborne laboratory testing; and

13.       Creating and reviewing carborne V&V estimates for new projects and programs.

 

Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States. Must be available to travel internationally up to 15% of the time.
