Responsibilities and Accountabilities
In the context of Next Generation High Speed Trains project, ALSTOM is offering high level of Maintenance Service to AMTRAK operator, under the form of TSSSA contract (Technical Support and Spares Supply Agreement).
The Industrial Engineer of TSSSA project is in charge of setting up the industrial activities, defining and deploying industrial processes for maintenance activities executed on NGHST trains.
- On at least one of the 3 Amtrak facilities of Washington DC, New York NY, or Boston MA;
- Including the update of the maintenance documentation (Train product manuals/eCatalogue) according to the transfer plan defined with ILS team;
- Demonstrating confidence and working knowledge of assigned duties while interfacing directly with the customer.
- Including comprehensive Work Instructions, with associated standard tasks lists (used in work orders) and standard times:
- Including special tools and bill-of-material (BoM);
- Making sure that the industrial means are fitting with the maintenance needs and train design
- Including validation on the field when necessary
- Targeting the highest levels of Industrial performance, within Alstom Production System (APSYS);
- Deploying the Work Management System GSI for on-train activities, including data loading preparation and updates, and using the very last technology provided by Alstom Service Execution System (SES), based on electronic documentation and fully integrated data management (may be with different IT tools according to final customer requirements);
- In tight coordination with the other teams contributing to TSSSA execution: Engineering, Supply Chain/Sourcing, Quality, Fleet planner, Depot planner. And coordinating also with Alstom central organization (Services Platform, Industrialization).
The TSSSA Industrial Engineer will also be in charge of introducing the Work Instructions and their updates to Amtrak production team.
He/She will contribute to the achievement of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) activities, validating the train product documentation, special tools, and supporting the maintainability demonstrations to be performed on Amtrak sites.
Educational Requirements
Associates degree in related engineering discipline (i.e. EET, MET) or related industrial engineering experience
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering Preferred
Experience (Essential Functions)
- 2-5 years of related industrial engineering experience
- Experience in working with an ERP (such as SAP) for Bill of Materials, Configuration Follow-up
- Minimum 2 years in Railways maintenance environment, and/or manufacturing environment, and/or ILS (Integrated Logistic Support) deployment
- Technical experience of Methods Engineering, writing and improving maintenance work instructions
Desired Qualifications:
- Ability to read and understand schematics and drawings
- Knowledge of drafting and CAD tools including AutoCAD, Pro-E, CATIA, Solid Works or other similar software
- Knowledge of DMA, in order to acces engineering 3D models and Drawings
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Strong communication skills with English language proficiency
- Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams and interface with all internal and external stakeholders
- Working knowledge of Quality and Health & Safety standards and systems
Other requirements:
- Requires up to 20% travel (domestic and international), especially on the 3 train maintenance facilities of Washington DC, New York NY, and Boston MA.
