Description of the position: 

  • The Cluster Contract Manager is responsible to lead the contract management activities of his/her Cluster/Country; and to organize and allocate Project Contract Managers (SPrCMs/PrCMs/JPrCMs), Key Supplier Contract Managers (KSCM) and Project Contract Administrators (PrCAs), as necessary and as required,  to the benefit of projects within his/her Cluster/Country.
  • The Cluster Contract Manager coordinate and supervise activities of PrCMs, PrCAs and KSCMs. She/He ensure project contract management strategies are in place and implemented, in order to protect, on a daily basis and with a long-term view, Alstom’s interests towards customers, partners and suppliers/subcontractors.
  • The Cluster Contract Manager is responsible to ensure procedures and processes are applied, and to ensure timely and accurate inputs for the Contract Management KPI reporting. 
  • The Cluster Contract Manager actively contributes to the global initiatives and animation of the Contract Management community.
  • For the projects the Cluster Contract Manager manages himself/herself, he/she is a key member of the project team, working in close collaboration with the Project Manager and core project team. He/she provides guidance and leadership to develop, implement, and drive proactive contract/claim management and risk mitigation strategies in accordance with Alstom’s business objectives; including extensions of time (EoTs), variations orders, contract amendments.  He/she ensures proper record keeping and file preparation in support of robust claim files.

 

Scope of responsibilities: 

  • Put in place the appropriate contract management tools and processes.
  • Make sure the Contract Management Strategy Plans and Contract Management Days are implemented in due time.
  • Coordinate and animate the Cluster’s/Country’s Contract Management community.
  • Anticipate events and risks, and propose various alternative proactive solutions in furtherance of Alstom’s business objectives.
  • Define claim strategies for critical projects in Cluster/Country.
  • Ensure that the projects within the Cluster/Country perform correct/accurate risk assessments, including supporting the Project Core Team Members in establishing and quantifying the project’s or the Region’s ”risk appetite,” i.e., the level of risk we are prepared to accept.
  • Reporting on claim status and strategies to Management.
  • Drive claim preparation, claim strategies and claim roadmaps to protect the Region’s P&L.
  • Responsible for the implementation and achievement of the Region’s/Cluster’s/Country’s contract management and claims strategies, including claims’ KPIs.
  • Perform the Contract Management responsibilites for the projects under his/her management as required by the Alstom guidelines.

Position requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 15 years’ experience working in projects in a contract management / project legal / project management role.
  • Experience in industrial sectors, preferably in the railway business, in oil & gas or other construction-related fields.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.  Fluency in second language (e.g., French) a plus.  Professional certification in Contract Management, also a plus.
  • A degree in Law, Engineering, Finance, Technical, Economics or business sciences.
