Role Summary/Purpose:


The Wiring Operator performs various duties associated with the assembly of electronic equipment, cable assemblies, and mechanical assemblies.


Essential Responsibilities


In addition you will:


  • Utilize and interpret Engineering electrical schematics, plans, and prints to assemble and wire projects


  • Work from complex verbal / written instructions, drawings, and/or documentation to determine methods of wiring where procedures are not readily available


  • Work as an effective team member focused on meeting / exceeding business goals and creating a safe working environment and culture


  • Use pneumatic / standard crimpers, hand tools, and power tools, such as drills, to perform work


  • Proactively and positively work with others to increase productivity and reduce cost


  • Meet / exceed department metrics to include; efficiency metrics, utilization rates, and DPMO (Defects per million opportunities) metrics





  • High School Diploma / GED




  • Willingness and ability to use tools including: pneumatic / standard crimpers, hand tools, and power tools (such as drills)


  • Willingness and ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds


  • Willingness and ability to bend, stoop, squat, stretch, and reach


  • Willingness and ability to distinguish basic colors


  • Willingness and ability to work in confined spaces


  • Willingness and ability to work with hands extended above the head while standing on ladder


  • Willingness and ability to read and understand fractions


  • Willingness and ability to work repetitively stripping and crimping wire


  • Willingness and ability to stand on feet for long periods of time



Desired Characteristics:


  • Possess a basic mechanical aptitude, with the ability to realize an acceptable final layout and wiring based on non-scale drawings and general practices


  • Previous experience in wiring and/or electrical work


  • Previous wiring experience of AC / DC circuits


  • Previous soldering experience


  • Demonstrated strong problem solving skills


  • Previous experience reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications
