SENIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - PERCEPTION SYSTEM FOR AUTONOMOUS TRAIN (F/M/X)

Are you passionate about applying your knowledge in finding solutions that will contribute to the emergence of new transportation solutions with low carbon impact? 
Join our team in the Innovation Center in Villeurbanne developping solutions on Autonomous Train. We are searching for a talented Software Developper for our Obstacle Detection System (ODS) program within a lean startup pathway and in collaboration with engineering, software & mobility experts in an international context.

 

YOUR MISSION
As an autonomous train senior software developer, you join a multidisciplinary and motivated team that develops our Obstacle Detection system solution. In this role you will have to imagine, develop and implement remote sensing algorithms (video analysis, LiDAR, RADAR, etc.) in a real-time embedded environment with safety requirements. You will also have to interface this perception device with a 3D engine responsible for compiling the train's on-board location and digital mapping data, in order to contextualize the objects detected by the various on-board sensors. You will have the opportunity to participate in on-site train tests to test your algorithms in situ.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather (with system architects) obstacle detection use cases, identify and detail requirements for each use case,
  • Coordinate software development activities applied to perception systems,
  • Apply the most appropriate technological strategies to resolve perception & localization challenges,
  • Select the most suitable tools and datasets to develop environment perception applications,
  • Ensure a technological benchmark to understand the value provided by each approach, constrains, restriction, application context,
  • Design the technical solution for production-grade, including the implementation into the most appropriate hardware,
  • Participate in laboratory and on-site testing of a Proof of Concept on a real train,
  • Apply a strong testing and quality assurance practices, including cybersecurity.

 

COMPETENCIES

  • Engineering or master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, telecommunications or industrial engineering, ideally in Computer Vision or Machine Learning or Applied Mathematics, Statistics,
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in perception algorithm design and development for embedded application, knowing how to apply most fundamental techniques (image or point clouds analysis, filtering, feature extraction, clustering, segmentation, classification and optimization),
  • Skills in Artificial Intelligence applied to perception is a plus,
  • Extensive knowledge of software development in C++ and Python, mastery of ROS2 is a plus,
  • Knowledge of optimization algorithms and inference techniques applied to computer vision, formal computing,
  • Ability to work in a changing environment with uncertainty in an international context,
  • Fluent in both French and English.
