Purpose of the job

You will be joining Alstom’s Innovation Center in France with the purpose of contributing to the development of technological bricks that will enable the trains to become autonomous. The mission of the Product Engineer is to specify products related to Autonomous Mobility applied to railway applications. If one of the main tasks is to define relevant architecture in terms of HW/SW components that fulfills all stakeholders needs, you will be involved into very operational mission in order to integrate the different functions developed into the product and to test them on trains in the field.


Responsibilities & activities

Key responsibilities: 
In a product development team of more than 10 skilled people you will take part of the development of various products related to autonomous mobility. These products will integrate various sensors and technologies (RGB, IR cameras, 4G/5G modems, Lidar, radar…) and run on embedded processing units In real-time environment.


Main activities:

  • Test and qualify, in laboratory and on field trials, HW & SW components of the solution provided by internal and / or external suppliers
  • Technical follow-up for externalized development (COS)
  • Integration of the different functions into the embedded HW
  • Specify the product (functions, operational modes, functional performances, RAMS performances, cybersecurity requirements, external interfaces, product configurations…)
  • Contribute to Stakeholders Needs capture, architecture definition of the product, Product documentation, configuration management, requirement management…



  • Minimum 3 years of experience in development of Computer based systems 
  • Experience in robotic or autonomous mobility sub-system design 
  • Experience in product development having real time requirements
  • Experience in product development having functional safety requirements (IEC61508, EN50128/50129, DO178/254, ISO26262 …)


Competencies & skills

  • Ability to work transversally with Engineering teams 
  • Ability to work in autonomy and to take decision quickly, especially in filed test
  • Design for Quality life cycle 
  • English communication skills
