Work Environment
You will join the Alstom Digital Foundry in Villeurbanne (France), Alstom’s specialized center for the development of the digital solutions to be used in Alstom railway applications: Passenger experience, Railway Operations, Asset management.
The role of DevOps Engineer is central to our software value chain, providing robust, secure, and scalable CI/CD services to multiple product teams.
Your Mission
- Deliver and maintain continuous integration, delivery, and deployment environments for multiple programs.
- Design, set up, and manage CI/CD infrastructure (servers, databases, networks, storage) across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Rationalize technology by integrating and promoting internal tools and company standards.
- Script and automate build, test, delivery, and deployment workflows using the right tools for the job.
- Ensure a best-in-class developer experience and high velocity while preserving quality and compliance.
- Improve portability of the CI/CD stack to reduce dependencies on underlying infrastructure.
- Monitor application and platform health; detect and remove performance bottlenecks.
- Increase scalability, reliability, and availability of systems and software (SLO-oriented).
- Embed security-by-design and ensure compliance with security standards and best practices.
- Support deployments in customer and internal environments, and enable teams through training and guidance.
- Contribute to design reviews to ensure architectures are easily integrable and releasable.
- Perform ongoing technology watch to anticipate and introduce relevant innovations.
Your Profile
- Master's degree or Engineering degree in Computer Science or Information Systems (or equivalent).
- Software development, integration, and testing experience.
- Linux environment and shell scripting.
- Networking and security fundamentals.
- Version control systems: Git.
- Containerization: Docker or Podman.
- Continuous Integration & Delivery: Jenkins or GitLab CI.
- Infrastructure as Code: Ansible or Puppet or Chef.
- Artifact management: Artifactory or Nexus.
- Monitoring/observability: Grafana, ElasticSearch (or equivalent).
- Scripting: Python or Groovy or Gradle.
- Cloud infrastructure: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Experience with REST APIs (e.g., GitLab, Artifactory).
- Effective verbal communication and clear written English.
- Ability to collaborate with remote and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Agile, inclusive, responsible mindset with an international outlook.
