Could you be the full-time Traction Module Engineer in Västerås we’re looking for?
Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your technical expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll report to Traction Sub-systems Manager, and work alongside a team of self-driven experts.
In your role as Traction Module Engineer, you’ll also work closely and come in contact with cross site teams, teams in other sites within the ALSTOM engineering community and associated to development and delivery projects.
You’ll more specifically be engaged with our power module solutions with emphasis on gate drive units(GDU’s) and insulated gate bipolar transistors(IGBT’s) and any associated areas to them in terms of specific applications, functions and related to the different converter modules such as MCM(Motor Converter Module), LCM(Line Converter Module) and ACM(Auxiliary Converter Module).
We’ll look to you for:
- Participate in the compilation of the technical description of the power module.
- Calculate electrical constraints relative to all electrical components (IGBT, diode, capacitors, resistors, transducers, gate drive) of the power module and writes the design reports
- Write technical requirement specifications of the electrical components of the power module.
- Lead technical discussions with other stakeholders within engineering.
- Participate and execute the power module qualification.
- Ensure consistency and compatibility between all the functions of the power module.
- Define, together with the power module team, the power module validation strategy.
- Ensure that the constructional & functional configuration of the power module is compliant with requirements (verification)
- Analyze the technical issues and solutions.

- Relevant academic background, e.g. Master’s Degree in (high voltage power)Electronics, or similar.
- Experience and the understanding of VHDL (very high description language) and electronic design is a merit and beneficial.
- Experience of working with industrial electronics and to have the ability and skills to perform minor HW(electronic) design changes/adaptations when needed.
- Experience and knowledge to work in a HV (power)lab; test environment development; measuring devices, equipment, LabView.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of electronic device testing including the knowledge of analogue and digital design solutions.
- Experience and knowledge of insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBT’s) and the control/driving of them is beneficial.
