Could you be the full-time Thermal Engineer in Västerås we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your thermal design and calculation expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside innovative and collaborative teammates.

You'll play a key role in advancing sustainable rail transport by ensuring the effective cooling of rail traction systems and their associated power components. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (such as R&D and system validation teams), contribute to the development of new cooling systems, and validate thermal components through rigorous testing, among other responsibilities.

You’ll specifically take care of designing and sizing cooling systems using theoretical calculations and simulations, but also defining models and ensuring their validation through testing.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Designing and sizing cooling systems for rail traction systems
  • Specifying thermal cooling components in line with applicable standards
  • Defining and validating models and calculation tools through tests
  • Managing thermal validation of components in collaboration with validation teams
  • Analyzing thermal test results and recalibrating calculations based on outcomes
  • Preparing comprehensive reports

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a specialisation in Thermal Design and Calculation
  • Strong knowledge of thermal transfers, aeraulics, and hydraulics
  • Familiarity with thermal product components such as pumps, fans, exchangers, and radiators
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
  • Experience in the railway or transport sector (desirable)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret thermal test results
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills

Things you’ll enjoy Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career. You’ll also:

  • Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines

  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning
  • Progress towards advanced technical or leadership roles
  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
