Methods & Tools – Digital Acceleration Engineer

Context

You will join the Interiors Component Development Site and Product Family of Valenciennes Petite Forêt, a multicultural environment gathering more than 180 people across 22 nationalities. Our teams include designers, buyers, industrial engineers, quality engineers, project managers and product experts working on French and international train projects.

 

Purpose of the Job

The Methods & Tools / Digital Acceleration Engineer supports Engineering and project execution efficiency by:

  • Defining, deploying, and continuously improving methodologies (“How”) enabling efficient and consistent execution of Engineering and Industrial processes.
  • Collaborating with IS&T (“With”), responsible for tool development and maintenance, and with Engineering Métiers (“What” & “Control”), who define processes and rules.
  • Ensuring a complete and aligned end‑to‑end solution, in accordance with Engineering strategy (“Why”).
  • Improving the E2E (End‑to‑End) data flow across departments along the DFQ V‑cycle, ensuring consistency, continuity, and data quality.
  • Contributing to Solution PROJECT mode (Study / Design / Build / Validate / Deploy) and Solution RUN mode (continuous improvement & functional support).
  • Acting as a change agent, providing Level 2 Functional Support, and relying on Key‑Users as the interface with operational users.

The role may include specialization in methodologies for a specific sub‑process.

  • May coordinate: M&T subcontractors or delegated activities depending on Project RACI

Main Responsibilities

1. Project Mode – Solution Development

  • Capture Métier needs, challenge and mitigate them to formalize functional specifications considering IS&T tool capabilities.
  • Co‑build new solutions with IS&T (Agile or classical mode): validate functional requirements, implicit expectations, and integration of E2E data flows.
  • Define, formalize, and maintain standard methodologies for tool usage; propose alternatives when required.
  • Establish use cases and E2E stories, with validation plans and interface definitions.
  • Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with selected Key‑Users; consolidate results and propose workarounds when needed.
  • Assess solution impacts, perform change analysis, define deployment strategy, and monitor progress KPIs.
  • Build and maintain Training Kits and contribute to training path design. Conduct "train‑the‑trainer" sessions.

2. RUN Mode – Continuous Improvement & Support

  • Deploy methodologies across M&T and Key‑User networks; animate KU community with regular routines.
  • Ensure Level 2 Functional Support on methodologies; coordinate Level 1 support through Key‑Users.
  • Organize site‑level and cross‑site training sessions (ongoing or for new footprints).
  • Represent M&T in:
    • ORB (Operational Review Board) led by IT Solution Manager:
      • Monitor SLA performance, analyze Problems & tickets, support remediation plans.
    • FRB (Functional Review Board) led by IS Solution Owner:
      • Prioritize CRQ backlog, agree on enhancement & fix packs, monitor continuous improvement roadmap.

3. Digital Acceleration & Data Process Optimization

  • Improve E2E data management across PLM, ERP, MES, Industrial and Supply Chain systems.
  • Design dashboards, data models, and automated routines using:
    • Power BI, Qlik Sense
    • Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint
  • Develop quick prototypes and internal tools (scripts, macros, lightweight apps) supporting digital acceleration and process reliability.
  • Lead or support initiatives related to DFQ, data quality, workflow automation, and standardization.

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Standard methodologies defined, validated, deployed, and aligned with central standards.
  • Functional specifications delivered on time and validated by Métiers and IS&T.
  • Successful UAT execution, on‑time Workpackage delivery, and Gate review compliance.
  • Clear, consistent reporting (progress, risks, opportunities).
  • Active animation and high engagement of the Key‑User community.
  • Incident/crisis mitigation effectiveness; measurable reduction of user downtime.
  • Data‑flow consistency and quality improvements along the DFQ cycle.
  • Usage, adoption, and efficiency gains through Power Apps / BI dashboards / automated processes.

Required Competencies

Educational Background

  • Mandatory: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 5+ years of professional experience
  • Preferred: Experience in customer project environments

Professional Experience

  • Proven experience in international and multicultural environments

  • Understanding of IS&T solution architecture & tool infrastructure
  • Knowledge of Railway Engineering workflows (DFQ, Project Manual, Engineering Manual)
  • Understanding of Industrial processes (Delmia, GSI/SAP, MES)
  • Tools & Digital Skills:
    • Power BI, Qlik Sense, Power Apps, Power Automate
    • Microsoft 365 suite (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
    • Capability to develop internal tools (VBA, Python, scripts)
    • Ability to manage dashboards, KPIs, data quality assessments, and continuous improvement loops

Languages

  • English mandatory, French is a plus

Travel

  • National & International travel: > 5% (meetings, customer visits, deployment support, integration activities)
