As a Sub-System Manager Locomotives you are responsible to manage the design and development of software based systems which consists of multiple embedded computers, controlling the train operation. Based on a technical specification the vehicle computer software is getting specified, designed, developed and tested. It communicates with other subsystems on the locomotive and is an integrated part of the vehicle control system.

 

The Sub-System Manager has multiple interfaces in the organisation and team as the vehicle control computer is basically the central brain of the locomotive with interfaces to many other subsystems in the vehicle. Technical specifications incl. norms and rail standards getting provided by the systems engineers as input for the vehicle control software development. Interfaces to other subsystems need to be aligned and specified. After the development work is done, the vehicle control computers need to be tested and integrated on train with the support of the testing department.

 

Task description:

  • Collecting and checking input requirements for the development of the vehicle control computer software and system
  • Manage the development of the control software with the phases specification – design – development – testing
  • Support the integration of the vehicle control system into the train and support testing and authorization of the subsystem

 

Qualification:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Knowledge about software development (preferable for embedded systems) and relevant practises like development lifecycles, agile practises, relevant norms
  • Basics about project management, planning, scheduling in an engineering environment
  • Team player
  • Self-driven and pro-active mindset
  • Open for cross-cultural experience and working in an international team
  • Good communication skills
  • English language skills (fluent), basic German language skills are beneficial
  • Agility and flexibility, ready to learn and explore new things
  • Curios about trains and state of the art technical solutions
