In this role, you will act as the co-pilot to the Project Manager and serve as the primary point of contact for all financial matters related to the project. Together with the Project Manager, you will drive project performance to ensure the achievement of financial goals. Your responsibilities will include providing financial analyses to support decision-making and contributing to risk and opportunity management. Additionally, you will lead the budgeting and forecasting processes while ensuring compliance with accounting rules for long-term contracts.

 

You will work within our Project Control Department as part of a team of four colleagues who report to the Head of Finance Project Management NL, while also being a member of a larger finance team in the Netherlands. Our team is young and collaborative, comprising diverse skills and experiences. Within our team, you will be responsible for our Signalling & Services business. You will support project teams, particularly the Project Manager, by providing financial project information and by challenging them when necessary. Projects can span from several months to multiple years, and it will be your mission to meet deadlines and targets by effectively controlling and directing financial reporting expectations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and forecast cash flows arising from the projects, setting targets and control environment for the cash management within the business to maximise cash flow
  • Monitor and forecast revenue and gross margins arising from the projects, setting targets and control environment for the revenue and margin management with the Business
  • Ensure that the process and tools adopted are relevant and provide timely and accurate financial management. Ensure alignment with project teams (Planning, Procurement, ..)
  • Manage the controlling, financial reporting and administration of projects in accordance with internal control rules
  • Ensure project accounting is in accordance with Company guidelines; define milestones and liaise with accounting for revenue recognition
  • Ensure robustness of financial reporting of the projects at periodic project review checkpoints (re. costs to complete, risks & opportunities); Financial reporting of projects also involves monthly close reporting, analysis of P&L, B/S and projects, including risk based ‘deep dive’ on some KPIs;
  • Be the guardian of the rules, enhancing internal control by ensuring proper compliance with internal and external regulations.

  • Accounting or Financial and Project experience (at least 2 years) combined with a bachelor or master’s degree (e.g. Finance, Accounting or Economics).
  • Strong team-working skills and a collaborative mindset, with a focus on driving project performance.
  • Problem solver, proactive and ability to strategically prioritize work.
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Excel and solid analytical abilities.
  • Fluency in English; Dutch is a plus.
