We create smart innovations to meet the mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. We design and manufacture a complete range of transportation systems, from high-speed trains to electric buses and driverless trains, as well as infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility solutions. Joining us means joining a truly global community of more than 70000 people dedicated to solving real-world mobility challenges and achieving international projects with sustainable local impact.
What are my responsibilities?
Within the Central Rolling Stock Engineering Organization, you are responsible for designing the control system and its sub-system interactions and for supporting successfully Rolling Stock projects teams in meeting customer requirements.
Each Train is a complex system made up of several sub-systems, each one of these composed of mechanical, electric and electronic devices. The whole system is controlled and monitored by a combination of low voltage cabled logic and software solutions embedded in electronics devices: this is the control system.
Working across tenders and projects, you define the purpose and scope of the technical aspects of a control system in line with the final product (Metro, Tramway, High Speed, Very High Speed, Regional, etc.), customer and company requirements, and appropriate regulations and standards.
You have very high level of collaboration with your team and other stakeholders within all the design phases to establish the product design and development, as well as ‘make or buy’ projections and maintaining the Quality, Cost and On-Time Delivery progress.
- Analyze, clarify, consolidate and develop all the applicable functional requirements at train level.
- Elaborate train functional architectures (command and control, with low voltage and software design) in order to satisfy all the applicable functional requirements with a particular focus on Safety and Availability performance.
- Develop suitable functional train architectures, concepts and design solutions, interfaces and perform trade-off studies to select the most suitable functional architecture while keeping aligned all the stakeholders (Train Level, Safety and Availability, sub-systems, low voltage design, software design) and managing the configurations and changes.
- Ensure key decisions regarding functional architectures, concepts and system technologies solutions are made in a timely manner to ensure make and buy choices and sub-systems delivery to project can be achieved,
- Ensure complete and correct set of functional specifications (from functional train architectures) and interfaces issued for the project,
- Ensure design solutions are valid and correctly integrated to meet customer technical requirements in the form of a class leading, competitive and compliant rolling stock design,
- Specify the Software solutions details and follow the development, the verification and the test,
- Verify and tune functional design through simulation while elaborating functional models (e.g. Model Based Methodology, Simulation),
- Contribute to the Train functional integration validation while defining the means of proof and elaborating Test Specification,
- Prepare and report functional architectures, software specification, development and validation project progress, risks and key performance indicators (KPI)
What do I need to qualify for this job?
- 7+ years relevant experience in system design, system analysis, sub-systems analysis, configuration management and product management
- Mastering Both the high-level and low-level functionalities
- Experience in electrical or electro-mechanical or automation engineering preferably in the railway, transport industry (automotive, aviation, aerospace) or industrial projects or nuclear plants environments
- Software development, testing and verification knowledge
- Ability to manage international projects with multiple teams in remote mode
- Fluency in English and excellent communication skills
- Availability to travel, and interested in working in multicultural environments
