The person responsible for engineering systems and integrated project management (MOEI) serves as the guarantor of “system” coherence between the stated requirements (functional, operation/maintenance, performance, safety) and the execution by contractors, companies, and suppliers. This individual oversees systems engineering (requirements, reference architecture, interfaces, change management, verification/validation and acceptance strategy), and leads cross-functional coordination to ensure that the delivered system (infrastructure + systems) meets performance, safety, and contractual commitments, all the way through to commissioning and operational launch.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Structure, collect, and manage requirements (contractual, regulatory, safety/reliability, environmental, and cybersecurity when applicable) and ensure their traceability through to evidence of compliance.
- Define and maintain the system’s reference architecture (functional/technical) and integration principles (allocation to subsystems/packages).
- Organize and oversee interface management (between packages and between stakeholders: contractors, companies, operators/maintainers, other projects/third parties).
- Manage functionally (not hierarchically) the Project Engineering Team and secure their commitment to the project, dealing with planning, budget, workload distribution, team members skills development, escalating of staffing issues,…
- Represent Engineering within the Project Management Team
- Choose the hypotheses for performance calculations and validate the results
- Represent Alstom in front of customers or partners, for instance to provide overview of design progress, issues and risks.
- Control the System configuration and requirement management in accordance with the design milestones of the project
- Provide regular reporting and performance analysis to the Management.
- In relationship with the Project Test & Commissioning Manager, prepare the Validation, Testing and Acceptance (VTA) activities
- Implement the Methods and Engineering tools
- Support the Project Director
To be successful in this function, you’ll certainly have to initiate and maintain regular and constructive relationships with numerous internal (Project or Sub-System Manager, Site Engineering Planning Manager, Site Engineering Quality Manager, Complete Engineering Project team, teams on other Alstom sites,…) and the client.
