Objective

Alstom is seeking a Traction Power SCADA & Protection Design Engineer. This individual will be responsible to establish and review basic and detailed design documents for the project.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Establish and Review basic and detailed design SCADA documents for the project
  • Establish and Review basic and detailed design Protections documents for the project
  • Establish and Review basic and detailed design for Cybersecurity documents for the Traction Power SCADA
  • SCADA Technical Interface Management with internal and external stakeholders
  • SCADA Technical Management of Techno Partner
  • Responsible for on-time Design submission by the Techno Partner
  • Interface management with all other SCADA subsystems (legacy, Signaling...etc) 
  • Sign-off POS SCAD design documents delivered (if required)
  • Provide support on POwer Supply (POS) SCADA topics to System Engineering team
  • Provide support on POS SCADA perimeter to Installation teams during FAT, Construction and T&C
  • Technical interface with Customer and partners to provide support to POS Sub-system and POS Design Manager,
  • Suppliers Design teams coordination,
  • Participation to Design Reviews, part of the DFQ process,
  • Preparation and follow up of all correspondences (letters, minutes of meetings, submittals…) related to POS design activities,
  • Definition of components technical criteria and technical evaluation of suppliers,
  • Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) procedures and technical assistance to FAT, if any,
  • Bill of Quantities (BOQ) elaboration, review and update,
  • Support on arbitration on architecture definition between the subsystems to reach the best compromise for the POS design,
  • Participate in collecting REX on POS design
  • Review and getting approval of design deliverables and reply to comments.

 

The Power Supply design team is composed of an on-shore part, located in Canada, and an off-shore part, located in St-Ouen, France. 

 

Reporting 

The position reports hierarchically to the POS (Power Supply) Design Leader.

 

The candidate will liaise with:

  • Engineering: Central Engineering and Transverse Engineering team
  • Project: Project management team,
  • Site: Construction management team,
  • Customer, Consultants, External stakeholders,
  • O&M and Civil Works partners,
  • Energy provider Hydro One (HONI) + IESO,
  • Interfacing sub-systems (O&M, Trackwork, OCS, Signalling, Civil works)
  • Regional Engineering Centers.

 

Performance Measurements

  • On-time delivering: 100%
  • Respect of Design For Quality (DFQ) milestones: 100% Go On Time, in accordance with the standards or rules of their Metier
  • Respect of performances of the system provided: 100%
  • The quality of the works performed

 

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Electrical/Electronics Engineering
  • Professional Engineer designation as per Ontario regulations or in progress
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration and/ or
  • Master's Degree in Project Management

 

Experience

  • A minimum of four-five years of experience in SCADA Engineering,
  • A first experience in SCADA and Protection for substation projects is preferred,
  • A first experience in Traction Power SCADA in Railway Project/s is preferred,
  • Good knowledge of electrical basic design and installation,
  • Good knowledge of BIM softwares and BIM design,
  • Strong knowledge of Cybersecurity standards and common practices,
  • Strong knowledge of Canada Electrical standards and common practices,
  • Fluent in English, second language appreciated
