Could you be the full-time Technical Operations Officer in Outposts, Willowbrook, or Whitby Rail Maintenance Facility we’re looking for?
Take on a new challenge and apply your technical expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and proactive teammates.
You'll play a key role in ensuring the seamless operation of train services by monitoring train performance and identifying potential mechanical issues before they affect on-time performance. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, including Control Supervisors, Outpost Technicians, and Train Operating Crews, to ensure smooth operations and timely communication, and much more.
You’ll specifically take care of monitoring locomotive, coach, DMU, and train service health using advanced health monitoring systems, but also implement recovery plans during service disruptions to minimize delays.
We’ll look to you for:

Monitoring train performance using resources like Intellitrain, CDS, Witronix, and Metrolinx Network Operations Control Center

Identifying potential equipment issues in advance of dispatch and coordinating repairs

Providing troubleshooting instructions to crews during service disruptions

Collaborating with the Control Supervisor to ensure timely communication with GO Transit Operations

Maintaining detailed logs and reports on train recovery and incident prevention

Staying updated with crew operating instructions and notices

Grade 12 or higher education

Completed apprenticeship (an asset)

Three years of railway experience

Proficiency in computer skills

Excellent understanding of locomotives and coach equipment

Strong communication skills across various mediums (face-to-face, phone, email, or radio)

Ability to provide clear repair instructions to Train Operating Crews, Outpost Technicians, and Maintenance staff
