The GO Expansion scope : new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.


Purpose of the Job


Coordinate the system Engineering studies for the electromechanical components and lead those studies to be carried out by the On-Shore team. Interface on site with the Client, partner and sub-systems and third parties on all matters related to the definition of the transport system.


Electromechanical components are comprised of Signaling, Communications, Train controls and Power supply stations and Overhead contact systems.




  • Participate in the development of system specifications (Functional, architecture, interface)
  • Obtain Customer/Engineer acceptance of system specifications
  • Organize, in liaison with the project technical manager, the engineering activities (priorities, schedule, delivery)
  • Report to the project technical manager the progress of System Engineering activities
  • Manage the On-Shore System Engineering team in accordance with Project Technical Manager’s instructions
  • Follow up the demonstration of compliance to the contractual requirements and their allocation to the subsystems, and obtain customer/Engineer’s approval
  • Lead the verification and demonstration of system performances
  • Support the project technical manager in the management of Engineering Work Packages
  • Support the sub-systems in their technical discussion with the Customer/Engineer
  • Implement the Methods and Engineering tools applicable to the project
  • Participate in the technical risk management. Ensure that technical risks are adequately addressed in the system engineering studies
  • Manage, with the support of the E&M interface manager, the interface definition


Educational requirements


University Degree in Engineering

Licensed with Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng.) preferred




  • Technical Knowledge / Experience: Knowledge of railway systems, operating requirements, available equipment and systems
  • Fluent in English
  • Knowledge of the rail environment and engineering practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication
  • Self motivated, detailed oriented ability to learn new techniques in a changing environment are desired. Knowledge of international standards: EN15288:2015, ISO 24748-4, CSA EXP11:20 (CMREA), EN 50126-1/2, IEC, IEEE, AREMA, CENELEC, MIL-STD
