Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the site General Manager, the Senior Manager, Continuous Improvement & Quality is responsible for driving continuous improvement, quality, training, & cost reduction initiatives throughout the business. The role will be accountable to provide the Toronto GO Vehicle Maintenance team with optimum solutions for all maintenance activities by evaluating the requirements of engineering, operations, support functions and customers leading to the development and implementation of solutions that optimize the tools, frequency, systems, and resources of the maintenance program and business.



  • Establish the Project Quality plan and ensure the proper application during contract execution in accordance with the contract requirements, and to the Alstom processes
  • Be the preferable interface in the Project Team for all the Quality items needed for the Project (Engineering EQ, Industrial IQ and Supplier SQ)
  • To be responsible for the attainment of Standard Operation documents and KPI reports to advise the maintenance team on maintenance activities 
  • For the assistance in project design and implementations of new concepts in both preventive and corrective maintenance areas.
  • To provide methods support for modifications that may arise through variation orders and overhaul projects
  • To be able to support the Continuous Improvement Team with 5’s implementation by running kaizen events and implementing the objectives.
  • To support the management Team with quality control requirements
  • Support the Continuous Improvement Team with developing layouts, maximising lean principles, and implementing best practices.
  • Provide quality awareness on quality activities planned for the project and organise if needed quality trainings

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • ISO 9000 Knowledge (Certification is a plus)
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification (preferred not required)

Desired Knowledge / Experience

  • Strong knowledge of train maintenance to Standard Operations and Vehicle Maintenance Instruction documents
  • Experience auditing and inspecting
  • Process orientated knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Production Engineering processes.
  • Knowledge and experience of implementation of quality plan and improvement methods


Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc.)
  • Ability to apply an organised, methodical, and consistent approach
  • Must be able to work with all levels of business from process owners to maintenance team member
  • Strong team player but with the ability to work well in isolation
