Could you be the full-time Interlocking (IXL) System Designer in Toronto, ON we’re looking for?


Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your systems design and integration expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside innovative and collaborative teammates.

You'll play a pivotal role in reducing the carbon footprint of Canada's busiest public transit system. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Project Engineering Managers, Product Development Teams, and Installation Teams), support project deployment activities, and ensure continuous improvement of solutions and documentation.

You’ll specifically take care of designing standardized IXL architectures and related configurations, but also support installation and testing teams during deployment.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Developing block designs, including single and double-line signalling plans, signal sighting, and route and aspect charts

  • Capturing customer architectural requirements and system interfaces

  • Defining IXL system solutions, including components and pre-fitted configurations

  • Producing comprehensive documentation for assembly and testing

  • Supporting installation and testing teams during initial deployment

  • Sharing knowledge of IXL system architecture features with the engineering community

  • Engineering Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, Automation Engineering, or a related technical discipline

  • P. Eng certification or in progress

  • 5-10 years of experience in systems/sub-systems application design or integration in a complex and regulated environment (e.g., railway signalling, aerospace, defense)

  • Good analytical skills and previous experience in system design and integration

  • Knowledge of IXL systems, safety principles, and power supply

  • Familiarity with IXL Alstom products

  • Open-mindedness and a multi-disciplinary approach

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is $90,000 – $125,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
