The Senior V&V Engineer is responsible for providing fully Validated, Verified, and Integrated projects according to Alstom's core technical processes. The Senior V&V Engineer works as part of the core engineering team under functional leadership of the Project V&V Manager. The V&V Senior Engineer receives design inputs from Project Engineering teams and provides outputs to the customers, including Test & Commissioning (field), safety and the design teams.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Specify and design overall tests: test architecture, test plan and test design (test cases);
  • Prepare overall test documentation including test sheets, test description, test scenarios and test environment setup and configuration;
  • Perform test sessions: run test procedures, produce test reports and associated Change Requests;
  • If applicable: perform customer acceptance tests, participate to site tests and eventually interface with customer;
  • Specify, design, develop and validate test environment & tools (test bench, scripting, recording tools, simulated I/O ...);
  • Perform system/ subsystems troubleshooting on defects detected during the V&V tasks on test bench and/or on site;
  • Manage V&V work products under configuration management according to Configuration Management Plan;
  • Ensure requirements traceability from contract until lowest levels, according to Requirements Management Plan;
  • Provide evidences of process knowledge and adherence along project execution;
  • Have good communication skills, written and verbal, good interpersonal interaction and teamwork;

Educational Requirements

BS Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline. Master’s Degree is a plus.



At least 3 years of experience working in the rail or signaling business, with specific background on Communication Based Train Control systems (CBTC);

Experience with Automatic Train Control Systems (ATC) or similar embedded systems, including its interfaces;

It is desired to have prior work experience working in areas such as V&V, Design or Application engineering;

Knowledge in test automation/scripting, PLC programming and software coding;

Troubleshooting skills, knowledge on issues analysis methodologies, log analysis using different tools (i.e: Wireshark);

Strong leadership and teamwork skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders.


Working Conditions (Industrial/Environmental)

Work in the office and in a laboratory or factory test environment;

Eventually, work in home office, with remote access to the test environment;

Travel up to 10% as needed to support field activities.


Physical/Mental Requirements

Ability to carry and lift up to 40 lbs.
