Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your safety assurance expertise in a transformative and innovative field. You’ll work alongside a collaborative, forward-thinking, and passionate team.

You'll play a central role in reducing the carbon footprint of Canada’s busiest public transit system by ensuring the safety of projects and programs that will shape the mobility of the GTHA. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams across the business (such as RAM, Cybersecurity, V&V, T&C teams), coordinate safety assurance activities, and support tenders and RC teams to integrate product and system safety into projects.

You’ll specifically take care of performing safety analyses, managing hazard logs, and building safety reports and cases, but also lead safety reviews and defend safety case argumentations with internal and external assessors.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Coordinating all safety assurance activities on the project/system/product as per defined safety processes

  • Defining safety plans and managing associated workloads and planning

  • Applying safety assurance methodologies, including risk acceptance criteria, safety analysis, and verification/validation

  • Organizing and attending periodic Safety Reviews

  • Managing Safety Assurance Engineers (if applicable) and allocating/driving activities performed by others

  • Defending Safety Case argumentations with internal and external assessors, and following up on action plans to close findings

  • Supporting tenders and RC teams in integrating product/system safety into projects

  • Managing safety issues and ensuring compliance with processes and performance measures

All about you

  • Mastery of CENELEC standards for safety (or equivalent standards such as AREMA, IEEE) and safety methodologies/concepts

  • 10 years of successful experience in safety assurance, including at least 2 years in the railway business

  • English proficiency in reading and writing technical documentation

  • Strong organizational and structured thinking skills

  • Proactive behavior and a sense of urgency

  • Resilience under pressure and ability to manage last-minute deliverables

  • Ability to say “no go” when necessary and to propose alternative plans/solutions

  • Training capability in safety and the ability to drive activities performed by others
