Purpose of the Job

Be a part of the task execution within the Service Engineering department, in the Maintenance Engineering and Fleet Support team, mainly to lead a team of Multi-Skilled Engineer and Technicians in the maintenance and repair of the Systems and its associated equipment under the Scope of the Rolling Stock. Be the technical representative in front of customer and external stakeholders, manage the technical scope of the project and deal with internal and external sub-systems interfaces, reaching the performances required, coordinate with the project core team and integrate the ALSTOM solution in the project and control the technical consistency through a strong engineering process management, quality, cost and delivery approach.



  • Lead maintenance team carrying out Rolling Stock maintenance activities in accordance with ALSTOM Quality Health & Safety Procedures and Maintenance Plans.
  • Be responsible of any technical communications to the customer and external stakeholders such as contractors or consortium
  • Be accountable for the customer acceptance of the project solution
  • Raise the project technical risks and build the corresponding mitigation plan.
  • Identify which are the applicable regulations in the customer country and ensure they are respected and implemented.
  • Build the input configuration baseline with customer inputs.
  • Be responsible of the On-Shore project design and application engineering activities.
  • Ensure reaching the contractual performances required.
  • Approve all technical documents (including engineering, installation, and T&C).
  • Provide all necessary technical inputs for deployment process application
  • Provide all technical documents to project core team members for the industrialization, sourcing, installation, test, and commissioning.
  • Solve technical issues detected by different core team members with the collaboration of Design Leading Unit of each sub-system.
  • Ensure complete application of all Engineering Processes.
  • Contribute to claims and variation orders identification and development.
  • Evaluate and monitor the performance of your team and carry out Performance Management as per ALSTOM guidelines.
  • Liaise with other team leaders, in planning and coordinating maintenance activities.
  • Participate in reduction of Deviations from Standard reported each month on Health, Safety or Environmental, as per procedures.
  • Ensure that your team adopts the Ways of Working (WOW) Behaviors, as per ALSTOM Guidelines.
  • Manage prioritization, and delivery of all corrective activities to ensure train availability and clearance of outstanding work.
  • To undertake any other duties as specified by either the Project Manager or the Head of Maintenance Engineering and Fleet Support


  • Contractual indicators of the projects assigned to their responsibility. Mainly focus on Availability, Reliability and train performance.
  • Objectives established annually according to compliance with performance indicators for standard works and compliance with contractual objectives.
  • Main lines KPI’s.
  • Customer satisfaction.

Educational Requirements

Mandatory: Engineering Degree (Electrical, Electronical o Mechanical Engineering)

Desirable: Master's degree in Engineering or similar (Electrical, Electronical o Mechanical Engineering)




  • At least, 10 years of experience in a similar industrial environment, if with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar
  • Experience in railway maintenance and with railway normative, especially in Signaling and Security on board systems.  
  • Experience in a position with responsibility in the management of people and work teams.
  • Experience with Office package.


  • Knowledge of electrical, traction and brake system for railway or similar
  • SAP, GSI or other ERP system


Competencies & Skills

  • Fluency in English is mandatory
  • Fluency in French is an asset
  • Analytical skills, good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and sense of urgency (sets priorities and reacts immediately when confronted with a problem)
  • Proactivity in proposing solutions, capable of managing multiple / high-priority assignments
  • Flexibility and adaptability (ability to evaluate alternative ways of achieving objectives)

  • Good communications and interpersonal skills (must be able to communicate on all levels)

  • Knowledge of general tools: Office suite in advance level
  • Knowledge of Process Improvement
  • Knowledge in SAP or GSI ERP system - user level
