Manage, perform and ensure the activities related to safety assurance are applied in the Projects and Programs (products and systems)


Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Coordinate the Safety Assurance activities on the project / system / product.
  • Perform Safety analyses on vital embedded Software parts (SEEA, Critical Code review)
  • Manage Hazard Log, review RAM, V&V, T&C activities from a Safety perspective
  • Support/develop the interfaces between Safety and V&V activities.
  • Build the Safety Reports and the Safety Case
  • Apply the safety assurance methodologies (risk acceptance criteria, safety analysis, verification and validation) defined for the project / system / product
  • Develop a safety approach compliant with contract and accepted standards (IEEE, AREMA, Cenelec,…)
  • Support Rochester Safety Manager to build action plan if requested to close open points and findings
  • Liaise with the Alstom Safety management in France, the Rochester MD and to the Rochester safety team.
  • Provide safety training of safety team (and engineering) according to the identified improvement actions
  • Support management/closure of Safety Issues and related action plan


Educational Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Software Engineering. 
  • Degrees in Engineering Sciences, Computer science would be considered (with extensive experience)



  • A proven background of 5 to 10 years in Software Engineering for highly regulated industry (Rail, Defense, Nuclear or Space…)
  • Self-starter able to work independently with a sense of urgency and network effectively to gather data from different sources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication. Self-motivated, detailed oriented ability to learn new techniques in a changing environment are desired.
  • Knowledge of international standards: IEC, IEEE, AREMA, CENELEC
