Purpose of the Job

 

The mission of the Performances & Simulations Engineer is to carry out the general design and the global optimization of the railway transport system, from performances (at the system level) point of view. To carry out this task, he will use the system simulations tools package available within the Unit.

 

Responsibilities

 

The Performances and Simulations Engineer will ensure:

  • The coherence of the simulation input data and the verification of the output results at Simulation Team level. Ensure that the results verification and simulation report content is done within the team with the Manager and with other team members.
  • The direct collaboration with Electrification Design Office in choosing a standard reference solution.

 

The Performances and Simulations Engineer will:

  • Prove by using specific calculation tools the compatibility between the performances of the system offered and its operational goals. Simulation of the operation in normal and degraded modes.
  • Ensure that the subsystems functional specifications include the necessary elements to achieve the system performance.
  • Size the equipment of a transport system and propose optimizations.
  • Issue Simulation Reports.
  • Develop attractive technical tenders documents (graphics ,colors…) able to obtain the customer’s understanding and confidence.
  • Collect data from the internal customer and put it under simulation standardized format.
  • Propose basic hypothesis for technical operation whenever relevant data is not available.
  • Propose new ideas to the Projects and test these ideas against time scale and budget of project execution and tender preparation.
  • Utilize and enrich the data bases of line descriptions and of Rolling Stock descriptions.

 

Educational requirements

 

Advanced University degree in Engineering

PEng.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Knowledge in railways simulations (traffic, power supply,…).
  • Be open to innovative engineering, new equipment, methods, tools.
  • Listen openly and regularly to the Projects needs.
  • Fair knowledge of the subsystems included in a Transport System and understand the consequences of the operations and maintenance constraints on the system design.
  • Understand the principles and outputs of the simulations (Train Performance, Operation Simulation, Power Supply Simulation, Fleet dimensioning, Signaling,…), and draw the consequences on the system design
