The GO Expansion scope :  new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.

 

The Interlocking (IXL) Design Leader leads the design activities of the IXL Subsystem through active contribution and allocation of the appropriate technical resources, methods & tools from the IXL Pillar.

The activities covered are IXL hardware configuration and data generation till the delivery of a safe and robust solution for the Factory Acceptance test and for the on-site installation and Testing & Commissioning till revenue service.

 

Responsibilities:

  • IXL plans and architecture definition
      • Define the IXL design strategy to deliver the solution as per project schedule and respecting the Quality and Cost commitments
      • Define the Project design strategy in the IXL data preparation plan, to ensure proper coverage and demonstration that customer and design requirements are met
      • Cooperate with Project Configuration Manager to define and freeze the Hardware (HW) & Software (SW) Baseline to be delivered to the V&V, Installation and Testing & Commissioning teams
      • Define the IXL system requirements starting from the customer requirements and ensure their traceability in the whole project lifecycle in cooperation with IXL application designers and project requirement manager
      • Define the IXL architecture and interface with trackside equipment and external systems (in cooperation with other project subsystem design leaders and with IXL System Designer)
      • Support the project V&V manager and Project Safety Manager to agree the IXL V&V strategy to ensure the delivery of a solution respecting the required safety target and the customer requirements;
      • Define the diagnostic system requirements and its architecture and the interface
      • Define in cooperation with signaling experts and application engineers the Generic and Specific signaling rules to be applied for the project
  • Application engineering preparation and validation
      • Monitor and follow-up execution and deliveries of the detailed design activities (HW and SW) and the associated progress reporting provided by IXL application designers
      • Cooperate with V&V manager to define the needs and the architecture of test-benches
      • Cooperate with Test & Commissioning to complement the in-house testing with on-site testing activities and to receive and correct site defects and anomalies.
      • Cooperate with V&V team to sort-out issues raised during the V&V activities
      • Lead the resolution of issues affecting the IXL HW/SW configuration raised by the Installation and Testing & Commissioning phases
      • Organize periodically and lead the IXL detailed design reviews and provide meeting reports
      • Ensure the application and adherence to the standard design methods & tools, requesting deviations whenever appropriate
      • Attend and lead in cooperation with IXL application designers the IXL Factory Acceptance Test Software (SW FAT)  with Customer
  • Monitoring and reporting
      • Participate actively to the periodical Project Core Team meetings
      • Manage work packages or WP tasks and participate actively to Work Package (WP) reviews.
      • Cooperate with the Project Manager to provide technical elements to support Claim/Variation Orders;
      • Select and manage subcontractors (in case of need)
  • Represent Alstom in front of customers or partners, during technical workshops for solution description, issues identification and resolution, and for providing overview of design progress, identification of risks and opportunities;
  • Support the Project Industrialization Manager to follow-up the IXL equipment Bill of Materials procurement needs accordingly to Factory Acceptance Test, Installation and Testing & Commissioning plan
  • Support the Installation Manager to agree on the correct installation work methods

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor in Engineering
  • 5+ years experience managing an Interlocking project team
  • Good analytical skill and previous experience in signaling application design discipline, V&V discipline or Signaling Product design are required. In alternative, an experience in Safety Assurance is required.
  • Experience in relay interlocking and computer based interlocking

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years in relevant positions (systems / sub-systems application design or integration, electrotechnical product development) in a highly complex and normative environment (railway signalling, aerospace, defense) would be a major asset.
