Could you be the full-time Installation Engineering Specialist in Toronto, ON we’re looking for?


Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your signalling and engineering expertise in a transformative project that will redefine public transit in Canada. You’ll work alongside a collaborative and innovative team of professionals dedicated to delivering excellence.

You'll play a vital role in reducing the carbon footprint of one of Canada’s busiest public transit systems while contributing to the success of the On-Corridor Works project as part of the ONxpress consortium. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (design, construction, and project management), manage installation tools and processes, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of signalling constructability within MX standards, but also develop and review engineering studies, including Bill of Installation Materials/Quantities, Method Statements, and Installation Drawings.

 

We’ll look to you for:

  • Assessing progress reports and generating internal action plans to address challenges

  • Reviewing installation designs, including drawings and method statements

  • Conducting site surveys to identify potential constraints and reporting them to the design team

  • Developing work plans, Job Hazard Assessments (JHA), and track access and safety documents

  • Managing installation tools, including regular inspections and calibration

  • Ensuring “as built” and “as installed” documentation is completed before revenue service

  • Interfacing with internal subsystems within the project

  • Preparing and presenting technical solutions to internal and external stakeholders

  • Overseeing installation of signalling assets, including site material logistics, laydown areas, access points, lifting plans, and warehousing processes

  • Engineering degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechatronics

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Viewer (desirable)

  • P.Eng certification or in progress (desirable)

  • Strong knowledge of railway products and services across different market segments (Urban, Mainline, Freight, and Product)

  • 8+ years of experience in design, drafting, or engineering production

  • Familiarity with Environmental, Health, and Safety standards (desired)

  • Experience in managing projects with Quality, Cost, and Delivery objectives

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills

  • Ability to work in office and field environments under seasonal conditions, adhering to safety rules

  • Flexibility for occasional international travel

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is $90,000 – $120,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
