Could you be the full-time Installation Engineering Specialist in Toronto, ON we're looking for?
Your future role
Take on a new challenge and apply your engineering expertise in a transformative project. You’ll work alongside a collaborative, innovative, and detail-oriented team of professionals.
You'll play a pivotal role in reducing the carbon footprint of Canada's busiest public transit system by contributing to the On-Corridor Works project as part of the ONxpress consortium. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (design, site operations, and subcontractors), ensure quality installation designs, and support the successful delivery of engineering activities and much more.
You’ll specifically take care of installation engineering studies, site inspections, and technical reviews, but also manage progress reporting and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
We’ll look to you for:
- Enforcing strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations
- Overseeing subcontractor installation of civil elements such as signalling structure foundations, retaining walls, and primary cable containment
- Inspecting and verifying the quality of installations and materials used
- Tracking and reporting daily/weekly/monthly progress and updating site logs
- Maintaining accurate records of installation activities, test results, and site changes
- Coordinating with client representatives and third-party inspectors during audits or reviews
- Interfacing between subcontractor and Alstom design team as technical support
- Assessing progress reports and generating internal action plans to address challenges.
- Reviewing on installation designs, including drawings and method statements.
- Managing installation tools and ensuring regular inspections and calibration.
- Conducting site surveys to identify potential constraints and reporting them to the design team.
- Ensuring “as built” and “as installed” documentation is completed before revenue service.
All about you

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- P.Eng certification or in progress (desirable)
- At least 5 years experience in civil construction, preferably in railway or infrastructure projects
- Experience or understanding of surveying, leveling, and setting out works, lifting plans, and working at height
- Knowledge of construction workflows, installation sequencing, and railway systems
- Familiarity with brownfield railway projects
- A certification in railway systems or safety (e.g., CROR, PTS, WHMIS, First Aid)
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to read and interpret civil and structural drawings
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proven experience in leading site teams and overseeing subcontractor activities
- Required to work on-site, including night shifts, weekend and/or Statutory Holidays

Compensation
The expected compensation for this role is $90,000 – $120,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
