Alstom is seeking a Head of Traction Power to lead and manage the ELEctrification team, including OCS and POS subsystems. The individual will be accountable for ELEctification QCDP performance and optimize ELEctrification Financial performance (Margin & Cash). 



  • Ensure the safety, EHS and compliance requirements are fullfilled at all times and properly implemented in the ELEctrification scope of works
  • Lead and coordinate ELEctrification activities and stakeholders, from requirement capture/ analysis to the end of the project contractual obligations limited to ELEctrification scope of works
  • Plan, monitor, control and manage ELEctrification end-to-end activities (scope, schedule, resources, cost, risks, saving, opportunities)
  • Manage interface with project-level team members & internal stakeholders/ partners
  • Identify all opportunities to improve Customer satisfaction for its scope of works
  • Identify and minimize all Project risks and maximize opportunities for its scope of works
  • Manage the ELEctrification part of the contract with the Customer to ensure on time deliver, potential variation order and claim
  • As Work Package Owner of ELEctrification Work Packages, QCDP accountable for all the activities of the WPs
  • ELEctrification strategy definition in line with contract requirements, including PMP elaboration and objectives allocation to the team (planning, cost, quality, performance)
  • Lead and coordinate ELEctrification activities and stakeholders from transfer to close-out, including Design, Procurement, Installation, T&C, Maintenance and Warranty phases
  • Definition of ELEctrification objectives and main drivers (product/ service performance, planning) to achieve customer satisfaction in the frame of the Contract
  • Resources management:
    • Make sure that key project stakeholders are aligned towards project/ goals
    • Engage ELEctrification team in the successful achievement of project objectives and strengthen relationships among them
    • Proactive risk, saving and opportunity management
    • Contract management of all stakeholders (Client, partners, suppliers, subcontractors) to protect Alstom interests
    • Management of the project progress and its KPIs, and reports to senior management, with transparency during the regular project reviews. This individual is the representative of the ELEctrification team towards Project management
    • Ensuring compliance with applicable rules, instructions and standards: Code of Ethics & Compliance, EHS, Railway Safety, Quality, Project Management Manual


The ELEctrification team is mainly composed of on-shore located in Toronto, Canada, and off-shore located in St-Ouen, France.  



This position will report to the Project Director and manage a team of up to thirty.


The candidate will liaise with:

  • Engineering: System Engineering and Transverse Engineering team
  • Project: OCS/POS Subsystems management team
  • Site: Construction management team
  • Customer, Consultants, External stakeholders
  • O&M, Civil Works and Track works partners
  • Interfacing sub-systems (Rolling Stock, Trackwork, OCS, Signalling, Civil works)
  • Regional Centers

  • The following points for the POS sub-system:
    • On-time delivering: 100%
    • Respect of allocated WPs: 100%
    • Respect of Design For Quality (DFQ) milestones: 100% Go On Time, in accordance with the standards or rules of their Metier
    • Respect of performance of the system provided: 100%
    • Contractual management, risks and opportunities management
    • IFR project targets, if applicable


Educational Requirements



  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Engineering, Computer Science or scientific subjects
  • Professional Engineer designation as per Canadian regulations 



  • Master's Degree in Business Administration and/ or
  • Master's Degree in Project Management



  • A minimum of fifteen years of experience in railroad electrification project management (OCS and POS), of which at least major experience of critical brownfield projects,
  • Experience in managing and coordinating engineering services related to rail systems,
  • Team management (capacity to coordinate and ensure collaboration of multi-site/multi-metier teams)
  • Leadership, entrepreneurship mindset and result oriented
  • Good knowledge of Project management processes
  • Good knowledge of Railway products and systems
  • Conflict and crisis management
  • Ability to manage customer relationship
  • Advanced negotiation skills
