Could you be the full-time Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor in Toronto, ON we’re looking for?


Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your leadership and safety expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside dedicated, proactive, and collaborative teammates.

You'll play a central role in ensuring compliance with EHS rules on-site during the testing and commissioning phases of equipment and trains, contributing significantly to the safety and sustainability of Canada’s busiest public transit system. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, including permit offices, supervisors, contractors, and the prime contractor. You’ll also support employees and contractors with risk assessments and provide EHS inductions, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of conducting inspections and monitoring on-site, as well as overseeing work permits and emergency measures, but also contribute to accident investigations and follow-up actions.

 

We’ll look to you for:

  • Conducting inspections and monitoring on-site activities

  • Overseeing work permits and ensuring compliance

  • Supporting employees and contractors with risk assessments

  • Coaching and mentoring supervisors

  • Delivering EHS inductions for contractors and employees

  • Managing contractors and ensuring their readiness

  • Organizing and participating in EHS committee meetings

  • Delivering monthly toolbox talks

  • Investigating accidents and following up on actions

  • Validating contractor EHS documentation and monitoring adherence

  • Implementing emergency measures and first aid protocols

  • Having the authority to halt operations posing immediate high risks to people or the environment

  • Ability to work in the field, on night / weekends / Holidays shifts as per business requirements

  • University degree in Environment, Health & Safety or a related field

  • Health & Safety Qualification recognized by local authorities

  • 2-5 years of experience in Environment, Health & Safety

  • Mandatory experience on construction sites

  • Proven leadership skills

  • Proficiency in Office tools (Word, Outlook, etc.)

  • Experience in project environments (an asset)

  • Experience in the railway industry (an asset)

  • Strong written English skills

  • Valid driving license

  • Good knowledge of ISO14001, OHSAS 18001, and ISO45001 standards

  • Comprehensive understanding of local legal requirements

  • Teamwork and leadership capabilities

  • Excellent communication and people skills

  • Analytical thinking and a rigorous mindset

  • Proficiency in continuous improvement tools

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is $80,000 – $105,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
