Purpose of the Job

 

The Design Verification Engineer

  • Take part to major developments by proving that the design for Rolling Stock, Signalling, Supervision, Telecommunications, Power Supply, … provided by Alstom, is fit for its intended use, through implementation and execution of Design Verification and participation in definition and execution of Integration and Test activities
  • Detail and perform all the in-house activities in the scope of the assurance team, and interface experts delegated in other departments. Cooperate tightly with Test & Commissioning to ensure seamless integration and alignment between in-house and on-site testing activities and results. Interface with design teams to share and detail the results of V&V activities

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Contribute to the definition of the Project Verification and Validation strategy in the V&V Plan, and act proactively for its implementation
  • Define verification methodology for selected deliverables, when requested from V&V strategy
  • Define test plans and test descriptions for in-house activities. Liaise with PrCOM for exported tests
  • Perform and report on allocated verification, integration and test activities
  • When Safety is involved, share and justify the results with Safety Assurance Manager to feed safety demonstration
  • Interface with experts in other department to align on selected V&V activity methodology
  • Provide data to maintain applicable KPIs
  • Provide valuable feedback for REX sessions and continuous improvement
  • Manage configuration and change management cycle related with V&V activities (simulation configuration, anomaly tracking, etc.)
  • Follow-up with T&C for tests exported to site execution
  • Prepare and support the construction, integration and validation phase
  • Identify risks, scope gaps and grey areas and escalates as needed in order to grant the schedule

 

Educational requirements

 

University Degree in Engineering

Good understanding of system engineering processes preferable: EN50126 and ISO15288

Licensed with Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng.) preferred

 

Qualifications

 

  • Knowledge of railway systems and operations, available E&M equipment and Subsystem
  • Fluent in English
  • Knowledge of the rail construction environment and engineering practices
  • Good analytical skill is required
