Objectives:
- Support the lead PSAM to manage the RAMS activities and related deliverables in accordance with QCD commitments on the project/bundle.
- Assist PSAM with the development of the safety assurance submissions strategy for the project/respective bundle, including safe integration of the systems in Alstom’s scope
- Support definition of safety requirements, and oversee the validation activities required to reach an acceptable level of risk, as per the Alstom Safety Policy.
- Support the definition of RAM requirements to meet the expected RAM targets, and monitor the performance of the systems in revenue service.
- Coordinate the different railway safety and RAM stakeholders working on the project/bundle to ensure compliance to contractual requirements and applicable standards.
- Apply the applicable Alstom Railway Safety processes and instructions.
Main responsibilities:
- Perform hazard analyses, safety studies and safety design reviews to define safety requirements for the system(s) under consideration, and allocate them the relevant system/discipline.
- Review and evaluate railway safety risks and follow them until closure in the Hazard Management Tool (Hazard Log).
- Support the other stakeholders (System Design, Installation, VTA) in the definition of appropriate measures to meet the RAMS actions and to follow their closure through appropriate documented evidence.
- Monitor the progress and of RAMS activities and deliverables produced by system/sub-systems.
- Support the PSAM and/or PrQSM to perform Safety/Gate Reviews and the issue internal Safety Authorizations.
- Participate in the assessment, containment, closure and Return of Experience of safety issue (K1S), as per RSA-PRO-004 Management of Railway Safety issues & Alerts.
- Coordinate the RAM/Safety contributors from different entities.
- Have a pro-active approach on the design assessment to support in the adequate definition of technical solutions to put under control the railway safety risks.
- Have a pro-active challenging view on the overall RAM results from the contributors to enhance the adequacy/consistency of the RAM studies and requirements.
Educational requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of successful experience as a RAM/Safety Management within different industries (Transportation, Aerospace, Defense, Space, Military, Nuclear, Chemical), preferably in railway industry
- Electrical and/or Electro-mechanical Engineering, preferably applied to railway products with 2 to 3 years of experience.
- Good understanding of CSM/CMREA, Safety and RAM processes (EN50126), System Engineering main concepts (ISO15288)
- RAMS analysis and demonstration methods and tools and Electrical and/or Electro-mechanical Engineering
- Licensed (or eligible) with Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng.)
