Purpose of the Job
The Logistical Assistant who will also serve as a driver from time-to-time, is responsible for ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods while supporting warehouse operations. Key duties include operating company vehicles, planning efficient routes, loading and unloading shipments, and maintaining accurate delivery documentation. They assist with inventory management, order preparation, and stock checks, while coordinating with internal teams and customers to resolve logistical issues.
MAIN RESPONSABILITIES
1. Driving and Transportation
- Safely operate company vehicles to deliver goods to customers or transfer stock between locations.
- Plan routes for timely and efficient deliveries.
- Load and unload goods, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any mechanical issues promptly.
2. Inventory and Warehouse Support
- Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing inventory.
- Perform stock checks and update inventory systems.
- Prepare goods for dispatch (packing, labeling, documentation).
3. Shipping and Documentation
- Ensure all delivery paperwork (delivery notes, invoices) is accurate and signed.
- Record delivery and pickup details in the system.
- Handle returns and exchanges according to company procedures.
4. Coordination and Communication
- Communicate with warehouse staff and supervisors about delivery schedules.
- Liaise with customers or recipients for delivery confirmations.
- Report delays, incidents, or route changes promptly.
5. Compliance and Safety
- Follow traffic laws and company driving policies.
- Adhere to health and safety standards during loading/unloading.
- Keep delivery records for audits and compliance checks.
6. Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Schedule regular servicing and report faults immediately.
- Ensure proper use of lifting equipment or tools when handling heavy goods.
MAIN REQUIRED COMPETENCES
Educational Requirements
Mandatory:
High school diploma or equivalent
Desirable:
Certificate studies in logistics/warehousing
Experience
Mandatory:
1-2 years of Hands-on experience with logistics/warehousing or a distribution company
Desirable:
Operational driving of distribution vehicles/company vehicles for transporting equipment between sites
Competencies & Skills
- Ongoing logistical assistance in the warehouse and main site: receiving, sorting and arranging equipment.
- Operational driving of distribution vehicles/company vehicles for transporting equipment between sites.
- Performing light transport and transferring items as needed. (Valid driver's license – mandatory)
- Performing inventory counts, checking items, adjusting quantities and reporting shortages.
- Working with operations and logistics teams, providing ongoing support in day-to-day tasks.
- Ability to manage employees/contractors in basic logistical tasks as needed.
- Punctuality, ability to work in an organized manner and good interpersonal skills.
