CONTEXT :

As with all sectors, emission reductions are needed in the transport sector to reach countries’ greenhouse gas targets. Emission mitigation in the transport sector is particularly important.

Preparing railways for zero emission is key since the EU Transport White Paper identifies long distance overland freight and medium distance passenger travel as segments where a greater share for rail is required, to help decarbonize other transport segments.

Alstom, already recognized as an industrial reference in the green mobility domain, with for example the first hydrogen train, targets to be also the leader on battery trains and become an important player on battery buses, two businesses with very high growth potential for the coming years.

 

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY :

Within above context, sourcing’s contribution to Alstom’s competitiveness and agility within this new market is key, and the Commodity Leader Traction Batteries is expected to play a key role.

Inside the Train Electrical & Propulsion System department (1Bn€/year purchases) and hierarchically reporting to the Energy Storage Systems Commodity Manager (200M€/year purchases), this role involves the purchasing of Battery Traction Systems for trains and electrical buses to support worldwide Alstom needs.

  • Legal / Finance / Sourcing Performance (Headquarters)
  • Project Quality (worldwide)
  • Supplier Development Quality (Headquarters)
  • Project Sourcing Managers and Tender Sourcing Leaders (worldwide)

 

RESPONSABILITIES :

Set up full supplier selection process, create supplier Contract and manage Contract execution

  • Prepare and launch of Request for Quotation with suppliers
  • Lead project negotiation
  • Monitor Procurement project QCDT & legal project evolution (FAI, Business Award, Product development)
  • Ensure work package sheet commitment respect
  • Prepare Business Award
  • Promote the Alstom Code of Ethics and adhering to the highest standards of ethical conduct.
  • Manage Contracting activities
  • Manage Supplier Contract execution and coordinate project with all métiers
  • Ensure the on-time delivery and quality are secured especially during the ramp-up phase of the project

 

Support commodity strategy

  • Consolidate the commodity needs, inputs
  • Participate actively to commodity strategy and panel elaboration
  • Provide imputes to build differentiation
  • Support of Commodity Manager in tender phase
  • Represent the commodities towards projects, platforms and solutions.
  • Ensure effective teamwork with internal customers and stakeholders in problem solving
  • Apply the Alstom Procurement process and provide return on experience.

 

Build Supplier relationship

  • Support global supplier panel relationship
  • Manage specific supplier panel relationship (negotiation, specific agreement, local supplier QCDT performances)
  • Measure the supplier's performance and develop them in coordination with supplier Quality Team
  • Assess properly all risky suppliers and manage the associated mitigation plan
  • Manage initial issues before escalation to line manager
  • Monitor Corporate Social Responsibility engagements and deviations
  • Respect Alstom code of ethics and guidelines

 

Performance measurements:

  • Savings P&L and Cost to Complete
  • Non Conformities Event and On Time Delivery
  • Panel situation Supplier compliancy status rate

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Business school or Engineering school and Master in Purchasing

EXPERIENCE :

  • Experience between 4 to 7 years in international purchasing within an industrial environment
  • Experience with batteries and/or power electrical components is a plus
