We are currently looking for a

 

  System Engineer EMC for our location in Mannheim, Germany

 

In this role you will control electro-magnetic compatibility (EMC) properties on electrical locomotives to ensure that these products comply with their performance and safety requirements during foreseeable operation and maintenance.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Review and understand technical scope documents of vehicle releases to predict the influence of the changes on EMC behaviour and suggest the authorization and test strategy
  • Assign EMC limits to all relevant building blocks, both physical and non-physical, such that the underlying products comply with their requirements
  • Leverage knowledge of product and operating infrastructure, as well as experience from other relevant industries to benchmark allocations
  • Create change impact analysis documents to support the authorization of the vehicle releases
  • Validate compliance to EMC requirements by supporting the test execution and interacting with test teams and institutes for physical measurements
  • Forecast compliance to requirements by asking shareholders. Help building block owners and design teams achieve their limits with constructive input towards their design and integration solutions, optimize cost and weight; manage associated risks and opportunities
  • Run peer reviews: review the accuracy and quality of limit assignments, forecasts and measurement made by other team members, constructively challenging their assumptions, calculations and simulations

 

Qualifications:

  • Advanced Engineering degree (Master’s or PhD) in Electrical Engineering (power electronics, electrical drives or similar)
  • Expertise in at least one area of specialism in the area of power electronics, electrical drives or similar
  • Significant work experience performing EMC expertise (design impact, testing, authorization) in a relevant industry (ideally railways, automotive, aerospace or marine)
  • Understanding of costs and capabilities in manufacturing and testing
  • Fluent in English and German
