Could you be the Senior Project Planner we’re looking For?
We’re seeking an experienced Lead Project Planner to join our team, based in the North Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office. In this key role, you will develop and manage high-quality project schedules, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements and stakeholder inputs. Your expertise will optimize schedules for on-time delivery, resource efficiency, and penalty avoidance, while mentoring planners and supporting the team in resolving time-related challenges. You will guide critical path identification, delay analysis, and risk mitigation to ensure project milestones are met. Additionally, as part of the front for the wellington project, you will interface with the customer and bring visibility of the project to the customer.
We’ll Look to You For:
- Developing and maintain project schedules in line with company procedures and stakeholder requirements.
- Optimising schedules to achieve on-time delivery, efficient resource use, and cash generation.
- Validating baseline schedules and create project time management plans.
- Leading schedule review sessions, aligning internal and external stakeholders and addressing inconsistencies.
- Monitoring and update schedules, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Identifying critical paths, delays, and risks, proposing solutions to enhance project outcomes.
- Preparing progress reports using KPIs and Earned Value Methodology.
- Supporting resolution of time-related contractual disputes through delay analysis.
- Mentoring and guiding other planners, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Leading and shaping the direction of our Project Improvement Programme, fostering collaboration across multiple divisions.
- Continuously refining performance and progress strategies to meet evolving project needs.
- Providing clear visibility and impactful progress reporting updates to the Customer’s Executive Director.
- Securing internal plans, including sampling and execution strategies, to maximise cost avoidance and deliver significant benefits to Alstom.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for customer communications when senior leadership is unavailable.
- Steping in to lead the front office team, ensuring seamless customer interactions.
- Partnering with the front office team to address customer queries and guarantee the success of New Zealand organisational implementation, including depot setup, regulatory compliance, certification, design approvals, and consultations.
All About You:
- Tertiary Engineering Degree.
- Extensive experience in a project planning and scheduling role.
- Infrastructure, Industrial or construction project planning background.
- In-depth knowledge of scheduling, including Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Proficiency in scheduling tools i.e. Primavera (P6) and MS Project.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel or other data analysis tools.
- Understanding of time-related contractual obligations and delay analysis principles.
- Basic knowledge of railway industry products and technologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural, fast-changing environment.
- Proactive mindset with a knack for challenging assumptions and proposing solutions.
- Interest in developing Project Management capabilities.
