Systems Engineer
Role Based in Rouse Hill

Permanent role

We currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Systems Engineer to join our Services business and to work on the Sydney Metro North West Project. In this role you will be responsible for supporting the Engineering Manager in improving the reliability of the assets by using all the Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) tools available and to contribute to Life Cycle Cost improvements by optimising maintenance steps.


Key Responsibilities for this Role include:

  • Regularly monitor train and CBTC defects and failures in traffic and liaise with key stakeholders by using Smart Railway System data and Train Tracer data
  • Develop project specific queries using Rules editor to further enhance detectability of faults.
  • Mitigating the risk of in service failures through proactive intervention
  • Provide technical support for Metro Trains Sydney on how to best manage in-service incidents
  • Produce complex, analytical technical reports on fault investigation
  • Actively participate in closing work reports within Maintenance Management system
  • Assist other team members, both Alstom and customer, with the development of technical skills by acting as a mentor
  • As required, attend off-depot meetings to support technical investigations and resolutions


Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required Includes:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Communications or similar technology)
  • Experience in a maintenance background an advantage but not essential
  • Extensive operational experience within the railway industry
  • Experience in condition-based monitoring tools
  • Excellent computer literacy and knowledge or logic/programming
